I to have had my nook color for less than a year my cable broke 2 days ago where it plugs into the nook. I think it is because of the charging port being on the bottom of the nook and if you are like me and charge while you read cause you don't want to put it down yet, you most likely prop it on your leg or your chest while your reading. In this case I think it bends the charging cable causing it to break. But there is good news I called nook with this complaint and they are sending me a replacement charger for free. So if you haven't had your nook long and don't want to spend the money for a new charger call 1-800-the-book and see if they can help you.

I too have had my NOOK less than a year, and the charging cable fell apart where it plugs into the device. For what I paid for this product, you'd think the accessories that came with it would hold up longer than 5 months.

Haven't had my nook color a year yet and the charging cable broke. Reading complaints prove that there is a default with this cable. Everyone complains of the same thing, very fragils and breaks easily. One wrong move and you no longer have a way to charger you nook. Waiting on a replacement for my nook now. I think B&N should give everyone a replacement for free if they send their original back.

I agree with the following reviews; however I just called the customer service number. Heard I was still under warranty and have a replacement charger shipped to my office :) I suggest all to do the same.

I received my Nook for Christmas 2010 I now am ordering my 3rd cable. There must be a secret. Charge the Nook to 100% remove the cable from the nook and read until the nook tells you that you need to recharge. Then plug it in again and recharge. I think if I recharge it every night my cord will last longer. Rempve the cord while I read. It seems that the cord twist when I read with it attached. This cable is advertised to be used with the Nook 2nd Edition. This cable does not say that it is compatible with the Nook I received. However since I can pick it up at the store, I should be able to tell. I too take my nook everywhere. There must be a secret to being able to use this cable longer than every 3 months. I agree this cable is flawed. The price has been reduced from $14.95 which is good news.

I have the same review as everyone else. Bought the Nook Color and the cord broke within 2 months. I called the customer service line and am receiving a free replacement but I do not know what good that will do. If the replacement is as fragile as the original cord I will be calling them back in another 2 months. If I knew I would have this much trouble charging the Nook Color I never would have purchased it.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. Not worth the cost. The cable design does not withstand daily use. They should replace this item for FREE. I have bought three so far and am ordering two more so that I have one when the next one breaks. It, like most of the other comments, broke apart and is now useless.

Have had my nook simple touch for only a few weeks, and the plug no longer stays in to charge. Same as most other reviews, unfortunately. Obviously very poor design. Am having to tape the charge cord onto the nook, and even that's not working well.

I agree. I have had my nook for less than one year and the thing fell apart. It is very disappointing to spend so much money on a product and have an important piece (charging cable) just break off.

Had the nook since last Christmas, and the cable just broke today. As others have said, we pay $249 plus tax for the nook and the cable breaks within the year; that's just not good; I expect better quality from B&N. Hopefully they will improve on it in the future.

As someone else said, the charging port at the bottom makes it easy to bend and break.

I love my Nook Color. I couldn't be without it without going crazy. I've had to replace the cord because it broke, but it was covered under warranty. I could complain about how it shouldn't have broke, but its electronic and all electronic things are fragile. If it can be made it can be broken.

I haven't had my nook for even a year yet and the stupid cord broke within a few months of having my nook! This is just ridiculous I agree that Barnes and Noble should come up with a solution!!!! :-( I can't believe that pretty much everyone has had a problem with the charging cord!!!!

I have had my reader less than a year and love it! My husband got it for me as a gift as i was using the sony reader before this. I thought i would miss my " books" but not at all. I absolutly Love everything about the nook except, THE CABLE! This is my 3rd replacement! I have neveer been offered a free replacement but I think I will write a letter.......obviously not a random problem, Still love my reader though!
