The instructions warn that any dust under the film will leave air bubbles...well good luck peeling back that plastic and not having dust immediately cling to it! I wasted both sheets from the kit I bought online with my NOOK...total frustration. I took a trip to my local B&N store and asked the nice lady at the NOOK display if she could install the anti-glare film; she said she was willing to try, but I would have to buy another kit. She failed on the first attempt, but succeeded on the second try...no dust trapped/no air bubbles. This very nice person had lots of practice and was every bit as stressed trying to get this to work as I had been.
Lessons:
1) The instructions are worthless. The right way to apply the film is to peel back only the very top of the film, line it up on the NOOK and then peel away while smoothing the film into place from the top down. This minimizes the time that dust can get to the sticky and static-charged film. Even so...it takes luck.
2) Wait for a humid day to try this. In dry winter air it's pretty much hopeless.
3) It's very expensive for what it is, and the high probablity that it gets wasted.
4) Let a practiced hand stick it on for you.
5) When properly applied, it does the job it is supposed to.

Seventeen Bucks seems a bit steep for 2 screen savers and a little scrap of microfiber. Having said that, however, they are cut to perfect fit, go on easily, and do cut down considerably on the glare.
Two hints: Use a credit card (the one you maxed out buying the wonderful NC) to smooth out the screen - slowly...very slowly. And buy a can of spray air from an office supply shop. It will get all the dust and lint off the screen and surrounding surfaces, and, IF you should get a piece of lint on the underside of the screen, a shot of air will blow it off with no smudges or fingerprints.

I bought my Nook Color a few days ago and I was a little annoyed at how easy it was to get the screen all smudged with fingerprints and dirt. I would have to clean after every time I used it because I like to keep the screen looking nice and clean. Anyway, that is the main reason I got this screen protector, not so much to reduce glare, but for protecting the screen from fingerprints and dirt. It works wonderfully for this purpose. I was afraid that the matte finish would make the skin blurry, but not at all. My fingers glide over the screen a lot easier and ZERO fingerprints on the screen. I don't know how it works, but this protector really repels skin oil so that you don't get all the smudges on your screen. It also reduces glare a lot, so I think it would help for reading your NC outdoors, although this wasn't my main concern.
I highly recommend this product to keep your screen clean and free from fingerprints with the added bonus of reduced glare. Very pleased!

Although I have not tried this yet, a friend suggested turning on the shower to create steam and apply the film in the bathroom. The moisture in the air will remove any dust particles in the air. He showed me the cover he had on his phone and you couldnt even tell it was there. I will definitely take his advice when i apply my screen protector.

The reflectiveness and glare on the screen when used in open daylight is really about the only thing about NC that could be considered a negative, although it is definitely not enough to change how I feel about my NC - I love it! Unfortunately, the solution that BN has provided, this anti-glare film does not improve the issue much at all.
The film attracts dust and particles like a magnet, which keeps it dirty, and prevents the film from showing bubbles and objects when on the Nook. And even when (after purchasing my second kit and trying again), I was able to get it on without the dust/particles,it did not reduce the glare or the highle reflectiveness of the surface. I could still see myself as though looking in a mirror.
BN: This film needs to have a MATTE surface, that does not allow for any reflection in order for it to be at its most effective. After two kits and almost $40, I am back to not using any film at all. I am still very hopeful, however, that BN will update the design of this accessory to increase it's functionality.

This was super easy to put on and looks great. It does help with glare, but it still is an lcd screen so it's not perfect. It does get fingerprints but they wipe off easily. I used the instruction card that came with it to slide down the film as I was applying and there are no bubbles.

I'm not sure why some people have issues with putting this on the screen. It took all of about 30 seconds for a perfect install with no air bubbles...and I still have a spare film. Works GREAT in the sunlight now. Just in time for vacation! Although I wasn't sure I wanted to spend quite this much on the product, I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it!!!

I received this item yesterday and as indicated it comes with 2 pieces of anti-glare film and microfiber cleaning cloth. I cleaned the screen and attached the film and had to reposition it 4 times to get it the best fit I could. As indicated in the description, the kit is made for the Nook Color which I received for Christmas, I expected it to fit the Nook Color exactly which it does not. For $17 plus tax & ship = low quality, poor value for the money.

I purchased the regular screen film because the anti-glare was sold out. The only complaint I had with the regular screen film was sometimes in direct light indoors (planes, restaurants, offices) I would get a glare and have to angle the NOOK a bit. The anti-glare screen diffuses direct light and my NOOK is much easier to read. Glad I spent the money and switched!

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.A lot of other reviewers are complaining that this screen protector is hard to put on and is a waste of money. I just put one on my new Nook and it took all of about three minutes.
Clean the screen with a glass cleaner and the included microfiber cloth. Just pull the top of the backing away and line up with the top of the screen. Start using a credit card like a squeegee to remove any air bubbles as you pull more of the backing off and apply to the screen.
I don't notice the protector affecting the clarity of the text and it does help to reduce glare. I think it was a bit on the pricey side but am glad I got it to protect my investment.

It went on eaay, makes the Nook Color FAR easier to read in direct sunlight and is absolutely a "must" in my mind. No more fingerprints, no more glare and it does NOT affect the touch capability and in my mind, doesn't affect the color either. Reading the National Geographic Magazine with the anti-glare screen attached and the color is still superb.
5 stars...definately

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I almost let the negative reviews I read about this product scare me off but I didn't and I had no problem what-so-ever putting this on my nook color. It took less than 3 min. I live in AZ so there is little to no humidity here and I didn't do anything special like turn on the shower for extra moisture. Also anyone who has handled a piece of tape knows that there is no way to to remove the entire backing of this and not leave fingerprints, the easiest thing to do is peel a bit from the top place it in position and slowly peel it down the screen. In fact the only air bubble that appeared was at the very top corner and that was easy enough to smooth out. It covers the entire screen and unless someone looks real close, they would never know it's there. Glad I took the chance!!

After reading mixed reviews i was hesitant to buy but also wanted to protect the screen from my 3 year old that loves my nook as much as me. The film was super easy to apply with no bubbles. I had my nook about a month before applying it. I didn't need to be in a dust vacuum as some raters stated. Absolutely no problem.

ruined both trying to get them on. ended up paying 16 dollars and only was left with the cloth. spent many minutes trying to get it clean only to still have dust underneath. once it got stuck to the bottom, i was able to use a credit card to get rid of the bubbles, but when you turned it on all you could see was dark dust spots all over. not worth the money, time, or effort. very disappointmented that B&N would have a product so un-user friendly.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. The item is of high quality and is very easy to apply to the screen itself. It does reduce the glare from bright lights directly reflected off of/ on to the screen. Keep in mind that it also slightly reduces the sharpness of the high resolution screen. This is something that I can live with. By adjusting the brightness of the screen - the affect on the visual acuity isn't really that profound.
Lastly, it does not seem to impair the touch interface in the least.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.Whoever thinks this is diffcult to put on did not follow the instructions. You don't need to turn the shower on or anything else. That is just crazy. You do need a credit card to help elimate any bubbles. But other than that, just make sure your screen is clean and go slowly. Easy as pie!

I thought it went on relatively easy, but my Color only had a few fingerprints on it and no dust. Wash your hands very well & install on a flat clean surface. Wipe, wipe, wipe the screen, peel down the top edge only with the little paper pull tab, line the top edge with the top of the sheet and slowly peel back the plastic from underneath as you push down the protector. Does seem to make the text a bit hazy, but have not read with it on enough to give a final decision.

I've used screen shields on several items I own, so it was a no-brainer that I would invest in one for my NOOKColor. Since the product is so new, not many third-parties provide these yet; I had little choice but to purchase this one.
Installation was as expected, clean the NC, wipe, wipe and wipe with the microfiber cloth during application. I did snag a small piece of lint under the protector but no air bubble formed, and I can't see it when the NC is turned on.
Anti-Glare is not MATTE, there is still a slight reflective property to the shield, but it is much reduced from the bare glass. It does not alter or hinder the color display, I see very little difference after installation. It's fairly smooth, the "matte-ness" is barely detectable by feel. Fingerprints are more easily removed and I don't feel that I will scratch the NC any time soon. I'm fairly confident now about wiping the NC on my shirt to remove smudges.
The shield covers from border-to-border on the display. I'd feel much more secure if it covered edge-to-edge, and perhaps even over the sleep button. It also feels sturdy, not overly thick or thin.
I was hoping for complete coverage and less glare, but this shield will work for a few months until a third party creates the one that I am looking for.

This product is great only IF you can apply it correctly. The black cloth it comes with leaves fuzzies on the screen which leaves ugly air bubbles on your screen. I suggest using a microfiber towel instead of the black cloth. Give it a gentle blow (careful not to spit!) before applying the film.
AFter my first two unsuccessful attempts at applying it, I went back to BN store and asked for a new kit. They were super nice about it and seemed to have known the issues with the cloth. They gave me a new kit right away with no questions asked. GOOD LUCK!

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I received my film kit yesterday. I did take quite a bit of time to completely clean my screen with the provided cloth. Once the screen was clean, it only took me 2 tries and about 5 minutes to get the screen protector on and the bubbles out. I did take the advice of another reviewer and put the cover on the Nook as I removed the backing from it so that it wouldn't collect dust from the air. That worked really well. It looks great! The only area of improvement for me is that this isn't TRULY "Anti-Glare." It reduces the glare to be sure, but it does not eliminate it. Still a good product for me though.

Overview
If you frequently use your NOOK Color or Nook Tablet outdoors or in direct sunlight, the Anti-Glare Film Kit is an excellent way to improve the visibility of your screen. It has a specially formulated matte finish that resists both glare and fingerprints; it also protects your screen against scratches, dust, and dirt. Easy to apply and remove, the film leaves no residue on LCD screens. The kit contains 2 pieces of clear film and a microfiber cloth with an imprinted logo.
