I'm an electronic "gadget" person. I purchased the Nookcolor several months ago, I'm extremely happy with my purchase for several reasons. I've read about 3 books per week. I've been taking advantage of using the library ebooks, they are very easy to download, and the cost is free! B&N has a free Friday book every week and I've found these to be very good books and a great variety. Lots of kids books available from B&N, I've got my 4 year old granddaughter more interested in books! It's very easy to check my email and other web sites, I don't have to always take my laptop along. My husband is no longer irritated with all the books I have laying around or taking with me on vacation! I'm able to read at night in bed without interrupting my husband's sleep. I've found some fun games to entertain myself with when not reading!

While I love my Nook, I've run into a lot of problems with the charger breaking on me. My Nook was a gift so I did not have the option of buying the 2 year protection plan. The charger is very delicate and poorly designed. You cannot use the Nook and charge it at the same time. If you do, you run the risk of having it break on you. Even if you charge it on a flat surface, if you use the Nook a lot, my experience has been it will eventually break. I*'ve had to replace 3 chargers so far. My daughter has replaced 2. BEWARE: If you buy a Nook and read a lot, make sure to get the 2 year protection plan. You may also want to consider buyhing another device until this problem is fixed. I'm looking in to an IPAD. While the initial purchase is a lot more expensive, it gives me the option of buying ebooks from other vendors and not throwing away $25 every 3 months or so.

Yes, I have to admit it. I already had the Nook 3G which I am totally in love with and which goes with me everywhere. So why would I want a Nook Color too? Well, folks, just take a look at it! It is the sexiest new toy ever! The color screen is beautiful and you can read it in total darkness because it has its own backlight. So if I want to read in the dark without disturbing anyone, I can do it with ease. The only thing this Nook is missing is the 3G feature which I chose for my first Nook. But another fabulous feature: whatever I have downloaded or purchased for my first Nook is available to me on my Nook Color. Plus I can read all those downloads on my netbook and my laptop too. As soon as I get my next smartphone I am going to take advantage of that super app as well. Fellow readers, don't waste your time with any other ebook. Nook is the one for you whether you get the original 3G or the sleek new Color version. Barnes and Noble has hit a home run with these wonderful eReaders!

I purchased a nook for my birthday, and praised myself for getting the protection plan. HA HA. My nook worked well for about two weeks and then it went haywire. I contacted the so-called support line and all they had me do was reset it. Still not working properly. I asked for a replacement and they want a credit card and will furnish me with a refurbished one. I think thats what I got from the get go. All I want is to get what I paid for.

We bought the Nook Color a year ago (Christmas 2010) and after a year of using it, we're still amazed at this device. Let's make this short. If you should remember anything about this device, it's this:
1) amazing battery life. Lasts far more than the advertised 8 hours.
2) great sound. Pandora rocks, we basically hook up the nook to our sound system.
3) crisp picture quality. Websites look awesome.
4) Web browsing is fast, connecting to Wifi just works.
5) Kids love interactive ebooks.
6) Angry birds takes on a life of its own.
We've had our nook for more than 12 months, and I came to the site today to find out if a new version was available. But actually, I am really happy with mine.
While my android phone's battery barely lasts 1 day 1/2 (HTC aria), the nook color on the other hand lasts a good 10 days - and we're heavy users. It's awesome.
Doing email and social media is possible, and supported, but I think if you're using a device like the Nook or the Ipad to type up your life story, then you're mistaken about the function of this device. This has been made for browsing, reading, playing music and games. Nothing else. Use your laptop to write emails.
Buy it, you'll love it.

Bought my Nook Color the day before going to Italy, finally got it to work in Italy with my sister¿s help and lots of emails. Of course there are some things that could be better, like more back and exit buttons to get out of pages, closing a book and deleting books after reading them. But I do love my Nook and where I go it goes with me. I now have a problem with the Nook. It won¿t charge anymore. I¿ve tried two cables and the only way to get a cable to work is to play with the cable at the Nook connection until the ¿n¿ goes from green to orange. Called Customer Support : 1. Unable to understand them. 2. Had to repeat myself three times. 3. Found out that their replacement policy is to give is a refurbished item. 4. After a long wait was transferred to a ¿Manager¿ aka ¿PEGGY¿. I will update further after I get my supposed new Nook.

Incredible color display-very easy to download books from the Barnes and Noble website-great customer support (toll free number) when I had a question-magazines are easy to read and can be purchased individually or as a yearly subscription- love being able to download a free sample of the book I am considering purchasing.
The only additional things I wish they would make available for the Nook are word games (Boggle, Upwords, Scrabble). I prefer those to the Suduko and Chess games that come with the Nook.

I got my Nook Color for Christmas and had a very difficult time trying to register it. Went to the local B&N store next day, 12/26, they said they think that the website was overloaded that day. I was able to register that day, 26th. Since then I have been trying to update the firmware with no luck. I have tried everything but nothing has worked so far. Very POOR Support from B&N and that is my main complaint. Nook is nice and I would like it if I could get things in and out of it easily. Files from computer are difficult to transfer and use. Wish they used Windows OS instead of Android as it is not very user friendly. So far I would rate it a "C+". I expected it to be an A+, its not.

My nook color is easy to use and great for reading my magazines on the go. It fits in my handbag perfectly and useful for searching the net too.
I particularly like the new apps which make it more like a tablet.
An awesome product, especially at the price it is.

I've been and continue to be very happy with the Nook color. I'm anxiously waiting for the promised software update (probably before january 2012). It will update the font capabilities and provide theability to view videos like Netflix and Hulu Plus. Over all I am very happy with my nook, however if I were going to buy another unit today I would purchase and recommend to others the Nook Tablet.

With the updates and the soon to come updates it will be one of the top e-reader. Next to Nook tablet, (which I do not have) BN has created a revolutionary device. From the apps to the email to the web and videos, Nook Color is the device to use. Nook Color will only get better with streaming movies and tv shows from netflix and hulu plus. I myself use netflix but I bet it wil be the ultimate expierence either way. I couldn't ask for more with the book selection, and the ability to put pdf files, and more is something that I will use often. I love the new addition to the app store "Movie Gallery" It has let me put on movies that I enjoy watching, and also some tv shows. All in all Nook Color and Nook tablet have been breakthroughs in reading and more. You will not need to have a test run because it is amazing. I would highly recomend this to any lover of reading, or with the coming update, a movie watcher.
BN has created an amazing device.

I have the Nook Color, and a Wifi iPad. Maybe the iPad is why I only gave the Nook 3 stars. The device itself works well. I enjoy reading my books and playing angry birds, but that is it.
The other features are poorly designed. The email app, while it works, is slow and clunky. The web app is also clunky. Video support is minimal, aside from youtube.
The problem is the hardware is good, but B-and-N hvae chocked it down so far. I have 'rooted' it with an SD card, and the resulting tablet worked great. So I take out my custom SD card, and I have a restricted, limited, reader.
Apps that are free in iPad, are not on the Nook. Searching is frustrating.
Promised updates don't really sound like much. Just some more restricted add-ons.

I love my nook color. I don't know what I use it for more...for reading or for internet access. but i do have to agree with a previous poster that the charger is terribly designed but I wouldn't trade my nook color because of it. I see it as a minor inconvenience. Just have to be careful when charging up the battery.

My daughter saved for MONTHS to get the Nook Color..its already having problems. She barely uses it because it is always freezing on her and changes pages by itself.I feel so bad for her. Reading the other reviews about lack of customer support does not make me feel any better:( I hope to get some help at the store.
