    This is covered under warranty

    If you are having issues with your charger go to a B&N store for a free replacement, or if you don't live close enough call 1-800-THE-BOOK and they will ship one out... you should only buy this if you need an EXTRA charging kit. The charger is covered under the 1 year manufactuer's warranty.

    NOOKColor Charger Cable

    I received my Nook Color for Christmas and already the charger cable is coming apart, and starting to cause some issues. I came here to order a new one and saw they weren't available yet, then I saw were Mosstralia had posted the info about the warranty and how to get a free replacement. Here is the number to call to get a free replacement (if your Nook Color is less than a year old): 1.800.THE.BOOK (or 1.800.843.2665) Punch 2 at the first prompt and 1 as the second prompt. This will get you to Tech Support. Be sure and have your Nook Color handy as they will want the Serial Number from you. (Settings/Device Info/About Your NOOKColor) Took me less than 5 minutes on the phone and the new cable should arrive in 3-5 business days. I think putting the charger port on the bottom of the Nook Color was a bad move. When you are reading and need to charge, it's hard to hold the Nook in your lap (if you are in a chair) without putting pressure on the cable where it connects. The charging port should have been on the side, not on the bottom. This was my first (and only) complaint about the Nook Color and it's design. I hope others having this same problem get it resolved as easy as I was able to. Thanks to Mosstralia for the warranty info and the phone number to get me started! I would have given this zero stars but you have to click at least one for the review to go through. But I give 5 stars to Tech Support.

    Poorly constructed Adapter

    This power kit adapter is poorly designed. The wires pull away and are exposed from the connector. You should offer a replacement free of charge.

    Why do we have to replace the charger already?

    I'm with the other reviewers! The original charger was super poor quality ... three months later and we have to replace it? And you don't have a charger in stock? Indeed, B&N should give all of us a replacement charger for free!

    CHARGER IS CHEAP

    I brought the Nook in November, and the charger was no good by January. I don't understand. I purchased the nookcolor for $249 (not including tax), and the charger is worth a nickel. I have to wrap the charger around the nook, in order for the charger to work. Everyone that purchased a nookcolor, should get a new charger for free! I rated this charger a 1 star because I had to in order for the review to go through. I wouldn't give it a star!!!!

    Needed an Extra

    The power kit that came with my NOOKcolor was shoddy. The USB connector bent easily and when I had to charge it, it would lose its connection so that I had to go push it in firmly every half hour or so. I complained to B&N and they sent me a new one, which has been fine. It's much better made and I have no complaints.

    I ordered a second power kit so that I can carry one in my purse. That way, I can read my NOOKcolor if it runs out of power when I'm not home. I only wish it came with a handy carrying case.

    For all those who "wish they'd gotten a Kindle," I had one. NOOKcolor is way, way superior. Magazines on it are amazing.

    On my third one because the tip breaks easily

    Just walked out of the store having purchased my second replacement cord. It doesn't take much to break the tip that goes into the NC. B&N needs to correct this problem if they want current owners to stay loyal and buy the next version.

    Poor Quality Should be 0 stars

    I purchased my Nook Color back in January and since that time I have had problems with my cable. the prong that is inserted into the Nook is very flimsy (for lack of a better word) and it was tempermental, some days it worked and some days Not So Much. It finally died last week. Since I use my Nook every day I could not order this cable on line. so I decided to go to the store and purchase a new cable. I am not happy to do this, as i beleive that this item should have a longer life than 7 months. I go to the store and find the cable is not available on its own I have to buy the whole kit $25.00 plus tax. i was told by the manager (who was very condesending) that I have to be more careful with this cable. Yes I guess myself and the 83 bad reviewers of this item should have been more careful. I am not now nor was i happy with the response I received. I think you should replace my USB cable. I would think with the way this economy and uncertainty that customer service would be a priority. I do not feel that I was serviced. .

    Great Customer Service

    I've had my Nook Color for four months. The cable fell apart, just like everyone else's. I called tech support at 1-800-The-Book. They were quick, understanding, and very polite. They are sending me a new cable, no questions asked. I'm not thrilled with the issues with the cable. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Nook Color. I'm sure they will eventually correct this issue. Until then, I will buy an extra cable just in case.

    OH BOY! OH BOY!

    Just spent the last hour describing my concerns and experience with the nookcolor charger. They were not good. Was asked to choose a pen name and poof everything disappeared. Can't write it all again I just hope B&N makes a better charger available and does something about the battery. If you haven't heard once the battery dies your only option is to buy a new nookcolor.

    POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POWER CORD QUALITY

    Called customer support after having my nook color after 4 months. I was told like everyone else that the power cord would be shipped and I should have a new one in 3- 5 days.

    NINE days later NO power cord.

    Followed up and was told to go to a store for one. After a little more podding I was told if I go to the store I would have to pay for the replacement. Advised Michael in tech support this was unacceptable since this is a warranty part. Asked to speak with a mgr, initially the mgr would not speak with me directly. After twenty or so minutes of going around and around with Michael, Mgr Doug Lattera came to the phone. After more discussion and THRITY FIVE MINS later he agreed to send the power cord 2nd day air.

    At this point B & N should consider adding two power cords to your purchase.

    LOVE THE NOOK!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. BE PERSISTENT WHEN REQUESTING YOUR REPLACEMENT CORD MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR ORDER NUMBER FOR FOLLW UP !!!!!!!

    B&N needs to fix this issue!

    I bought my Nook Color at the end of Jan 2011, about 2 months later started having problems with the charger. By the end of April it wouldn't charge at all. Went to my local store and bought a new charger for $30. That one worked for a little over a month. Just called tech support and they are sending me one for free. Tech support gets high marks, they were very nice and helpful, but really I should not have blown through 2 chargers already. I love my Nook, but something needs to change here!!!! I don't know what I will do when the year warranty expires, I'm not buying a $30 charger every month or two

    Very POOR service

    I went to my local BN to get my chargers exchanged as since I purchased my Nook color, I have had two go bad. The manager was very nasty. He couldn't exchange the chargers as I did not have my sales slip, and why ever did I have two chargers. I will call the company who makes the chargers tonight. THIS IS A VERY BLACK MARK AGAINST THE NOOK in my book. I have done a lot of business at that store since it opened, but as there was nothing they could do for me,I will not be returning to that store. He said they could not even check when I purchased the nook by looking up my registration date as they had no access to this. This after the Nook I originally purchased had to be exchanged the next day for another as it was completely nonfunctional and even with my sales slip, the clerk had to call and check if they could give ma a replacement. Your Nook is a nice reader, but with this type of service from the BN local stores, you will be wise to pull the readers out of the stores and sell at other venues only.

    Poor Cord Quality

    I recently had to replace my orginal power kit because the little connector broke in two. My new power kit lasted a whole 3 months before it did the same thing. The tech guys really need to look into a better connector. Some of us can not afford to pay $25 everytime the cord breaks. In order to purchase the cord by itself I have to it online because no store carries it.

    IMPORTANT: Shoddy charger wire

    Re-posted from another person who wrote on here because this is a VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC. My wire fell apart after 90 days from my purchase date. I LOVE my Nook Color but this is a horrible thing to happen. I'm calling in the morning.

    Nook Color adapter not recommended

    i went to the Barnes and Noble store and was told that the factory had to send me a new adapter when my adapter started having problems. I actually had a new one in my hands but I could not exchange it in the store. My nook is only four months old and still under warranty and the only way to replace it immediately was to buy one which I did not do. I was told yesterday that the new adapter was shipped from the factory in the morning but when I called again for a billing question I was told that it had not left the building. I have tried repeatedly to get them to let me pick one up in the store but they will not allow me to go to the store to get one and the store is only five minutes away. I also have the original nook and read all the time because I can read the older one while the other one is charging which at this point takes forever. They need to redesign the color adapter and send us new ones. I am sorry that I did not try a Kindle first. Oh well live and learn.

    Too delicate

    The rubber coating on the cord split at the nook end connection after only about a half dozen uses. =(

    It seems unacceptable that you do not have a replacement available?! This makes it difficult to recommend the Nook to anyone.

    Cable connector weak.

    The connector that plugs into Nook Color is weak. It is easy to cause connecting wires to pull loose.
