We bought 2 of the Nook Simple Touch products and within the first 90 days one of them completely froze and not functioning. After contacting support they said they would send a replacement as the product had failed. Received a certified pre-owned replacement on a product that has only been out since June 10 2011, to replace mine which had failed within the first 90 days. Contacted customer support as to why I did not receive a new replacement because mine was only 90 days old, I was informed that that it was company policy to send either a new or pre-owned replacement for a faulty product. Obviously they had to have refurbished and or repaired another unit that again has only been out since June (we bought in mid August 2011) requested a replacement in mid November, that had been returned to them for probably the same issue. Unhappy with customer service with regard to a faulty product being replaced with a pre-owned product after failing so quickly after purchase. I received the typical textbook response read your warranty that the company has the option to send a new or a certified pre-owned unit as a replacement; Company chose not to do the right thing.

I was never a big fan of plain eInk eReaders, but this device won me over with its touch interface, compact form factor, and extremely crisp text. Though I still use NOOK for iPad, I definitely use this device when outdoors or when I'm traveling or when I only want to carry a super-lightweight device. If you've been waiting for a simple yet elegant, highly functional eReader, this one is a winner. Minus one star for shorter-than-advertised standby battery life (about one month instead of two, which is still pretty darn good).

It is so light, I carry it in my purse and it doesn't weigh it down. I find that I read more with this device, because I have it with me all the time. It is so easy to use. I bought one for my mom too, and she loves it.

I bought one of these before my deployment to Iraq, and I have to say, its the perfect way to read books. It fits perfectly into a cargo pocket and the extended battery life means that you can go a long time without a charge, very useful on long patrols.

I have used the Amazon Kindle, the origional Nook, and the Nook Simple Touch. The Nook Simple Touch is the best. Very long battery life, very user friendly. I find it very intuitive especially since I have an iphone and love touch technology!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I still love reading quality hardbacks BUT there are some books not available in hardbacks and not really worthwhile to invest money in a paperback version. I love penguins but never buy them any more; the print is just too small for me to enjoy it. Quality paperbacks are better but they are not a good investment. So for reading magazines, contemporary books or newspapers the NOOK is just perfect. Also I have no interest in seeing movies or videos on my NOOK. I can see those on my laptop or TV. The NOOK simple touch is the best straightfoward reader.

I just received this as a gift. I already had the 1st Gen Nook with tons of content already on it. The transferring of content from one device to other is complicated and will cause hours of work to transfer and put content back into the proper places.

If you don't have a credit card, don't bother. Gift card requires credit card to purchase. Credit card required to purchase free items.

I am still getting accustomed to my new NOOK simple touch, after my old kindle bought the dust. I had some problem using the sign-in correctly but one phone call did the trick. It is faster, brighter, more compact, more comfortable, choice of six typefaces, still finding new things to like....

The Nook is NOT compatible with many Verizon and centurytel wireless routers. They posted a new "up-date" that causes the Nook to not connect to wifi networks from these companies.
I have been on the phone with BN tech support several times. They have told me there is no problem or that it will be fixed in 12 hours and I will get a call back - no call backs. I have sent several e-mails - no responce.
I checked on-line with the bulitin boards on this site and it is a know problem and is occuring to many many people.
Now BN support is telling people that the Nook does not support certain routers.
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODECT. BN gives NO support and does not care.

I have been putting this off for a long time, I finally went into B&N and the sales lady was wonderful, she did not pressure me AT ALL. She showed me the NOOK and left me to play with the sales copy. After asking a few questions I was sold. After my purchase she sent me over to customer service and my nook was set up for me by store personnel before I left the store. I was uncomfortable about sitting in the store and hooking up to wi-fi so I went to my car and I was able to buy my first book, then and there. I highly recommend this to anyone that loves to read.

It took me a while to finally cave and get the Nook, but I am SO GLAD I did. It's even easier on my eyes than an actual book. I am highly impressed. It actually re-launched my love for reading and being able to take the light device anywhere I go is awesome. I took it with me to a Dr.'s appointment the other day and it created a whole conversation in the office. I'm very pleased!!

I commute back and forth from work by means of public transportation and up until I purchased my Nook, I was lugging around whatever reading material that I needed on my daily travels. Since I tend to gravitate towards large, wordy tomes, I was getting quite the workout. :) Now, I just carry along the Nook and I can even switch back and forth between my books without having to carry the extra volume along with me. It has turned into by best investment this year!

This nook is really great. It's small enough to take almost anywhere, unlike other books that I read. (i.e. the 800 page ones) It's really simple to use, and it feels great in your hands. I thought I would miss flipping the pages, but I don't. Also, it's not like your looking at a computer screen, it looks just like the pages of a real book-- one of my favorite parts! Another great thing about it is that it has a long battery life and charges relatively fast. I read mostly in bed, and I like reading on my side. Instead of trying to hold up my book and read it, I decided to get a cover, and now I can prop it up on my bed and I only have to use my hands to turn the pages. Really great buy, and I would recommend it to anyone that loves to read.

It can fit easily in my purse. I miss having that daily that I had on my 1st gen Nook, but if that is a sacrifice for longer battery life I understand.

Easy to use, easy to read. Need some firmware enhancements such as zoom and landscape mode for the pdf docs not based on text. Overall satisfaction: very high.
