The stories behind the songs make this a great issue. also, even though I have a huge music library, i like seeing what i don't have so i can go get it. and while their order is off in my opinion, i mostly agree with the list.

To Anonymous,
Great Music is Great Music. Who cares if its rock, pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz or classical or whatever?
You need to lighten up Nancy, as it seems your girdle is on too tight.
This sounds like an awesome publication, and I will buy as soon as it is available

The bubblegum pop has turned this once great magazine into "TigerBeat"...they are only interested in Lipsyncing models and it hasnt been about the music for more than a decade...if I see it on somebody's coffee table I know how lame they are.

I have to agree with Olhippy. Since when did pop music belong with rock n roll? It's been like a bad habit slipping into rock n roll. It took how many years for rock n roll such as heavy metal, etc to get recognized, let's get the pop music out. Now!

I give this two stars only because it was interesting to read the notes about each song. But who in their right mind would believe these are the 500 greatest songs of all time? ALL TIME!!! I can only assume the selection committee consisted of a couple 15-year-olds with a snobby Rolling Stone critic thrown in for good measure. Use it to line your bird's cage.

I found that I already have about 50% in my digital library on my computer and found a few I just had to pick up (The Animals and Beachboys Greatest Hits). Great fun reading.

500 Greatest Songs of All Time? Then you'd have to include Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and an assortment of other great singers and songs from the first half of the 20th Century. Tremendouslu misleading title. These are the 500 greatest songs since the 1950's. Can't call it the rock and roll era because there are also pop and hip-hop songs on this list. Great songs are great songs, no matter what genre they belong to, but this shouldn't be called greatest songs OF ALL TIME.
