Ok- speaking as an actual owner of the device- I'm going to give the device its fair shake. It's excellent. While the resolution may be less sharp, the device shines on its own. It is able to play video for a while now with very little drain on the battery. The device does not get hot to the touch when it's working. It does not have the issues once encountered with the Nook HD+ (which I also own) with regards to the use of certain high-end Android applications. It fits in my white coat pocket (I'm a physician). The screen is amply bright. There is little or no lag time in switching from portrait to landscape mode when reading or running applications. With my device, with front/rear cameras, with free WiFi at any B&N location and the ability to shop, browse-for-free in-store (with certain limitations) and calling through Skype or Viber I think it's a win-win. Buy it and try it before you "die" it, folk. Enjoy the purchase the same way I do.

For watching movies, playing games or running popular Android apps, the Samsung Tab 4 NOOK is a perfect fit. But if your application is primarily to read, the last thing you want is a display with less resolution than the device it replaced. The tack-sharp displays of the HD and HD+ Nooks are still much better in this regard. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed.

The display specs are disappointing. The 1200X800 is so outdated, why are we going backward? I will have to pass this one up. I still love my HD+ plus, when are we going to get a better processor in it?

I find with my arthritis that the lightness of the device is a definite plus. I've already tried out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 at Best Buy, and honestly can't tell the difference between it's resolution and my current Nook Tablet. The fact that it has free in-store support is another plus for me, so I'm looking forward to buying the one I have on reserve asap.

Nice to have a camera and GPS but I agree with the other reviewers. The rez is too low, it should have 16 GB of memory and should be 3G/4G enabled. Maybe then it can replace my Nook HD.

I like the new Nook Samsung having cameras but, that's about all. The screen is way too small. I have a Nook Color Tablet 2+ y.o. and a Nook HD+ and I really like them, esp. the larger screen on the. HD+. But I have over 5,000 books , magazines and 100+ apps. My problems are slowness, "misbehavior" and losing some features, either occasionally or always. A big improvement would be not to have the same libraries on all Nooks so I could split up my large collection. (I'm also concerned I won't get all the books read and games played in my lifetime! I am 71 years old, after all! LOL!

Disappointed. Screen is too small. Resolution is poor. Are we going backwards? I have the NOOK HD+ and this does not compare. What's with the 8gb of memory? Should be higher and with the capability of supporting a 64gb sd card as the HD+ does. The operating system is the only positive that I can see. I only wish the HD+ had that addition. No HDMI port? I was looking forward to this but I'll have to pass

Really B&N? This is the best you can do? An re-branded Galaxy Tab with a much lower resolution than the previous Nooks? The only advantage is a newer OS and a slightly faster processor, neither of which is very impressive.

I am exicted that they have worked with Samsung to offer a better product, but I love the screen size of my Nook HD+ as well as the 32GB. I'll keep watching for an upgrade to this one.

I am disappointed. The screen is too small. I love my HD+ despite the lockup issues I have with it. I like it because of the size. I want an e-reader that has decent size letters and get the feel of reading an entire page before having to changing it. Its nice to have the other features but I rarely use them. I just like to read. B&N make one with a larger screen then I will consider upgrading.

Unfortunate....
The decision making powers that approved this version of the Nook should be fired! All B&N had to do for a successful tablet is continue with the Nook HD+, add a faster processor, more memory and better battery life and viola. The hottest reading tablet on the market. Forget about the camera's. Who wants to take pictures on their nook? You can side load pictures off of your phone. It would have been nice to add a mini HDMI port or at least a 3.0 usb port. Instead, you lower the resolution and make the screen smaller?
B&N forgot that their market is geared to people who like to read. Cameras? Really? B&N can't expect that folks will move from their Nook HD+ for this, this. I don't know what to call it. Everybody and their father has this kind of tablet for sale on the market. You have just pushed new comers to Amazon Kindle. Maybe that's what you wanted to do, I don't know. Samsung knows how to do a larger screen with better resolution. They also know how not to put camera's in their tablets. They even know how to put faster processors in them also. So Samsung decided to throw you a bone to help you out by giving you a bare bones tablet on the cheap hoping that by doing so, it may enlarge your coffers. Not such a good idea was it. I'll pass thank you very much.

Have sent two HD+ back due to battery over heating issues in the past four months. I heard a new Nook was coming so I put off purchasing a new tablet. If this is what they consider "new", I believe I'll start looking for a different brand. I love my 10" tablet and the hi def picture can't be beat! Hey B & N, how about letting your faithful customers build your new Nook with what we really want in a tablet/reader???!!!
