    Parents, Save Your Money!

I purchased this to give to my son for Christmas. I figured with the Smithsonian name, I was buying a quality product, but I was wrong. Very, very poor quality. My only hope now is that I can get my money back, as I shopped early for Christmas.

The problem with this is a design flaw..there is no switch to turn the light on you have to hold 2 metal prongs down to connect the power...an adult couldnt do that from behind the microscope and look at a sample no way a 9 yr old could. Shame, I expected much more from the Smithsonian brand.

Smithsonian should be ashamed to have its name on this junk, and B&N should be ashamed to have it in their store. It is useless.
It won't focus on anything except the scratches on the lens elements with the out-of-focus object in the background.
The minimum star rating is 1-star, but this is a zero.
