Hours of replay value

Acquire has all the necessary making to be a classic game in every gamers boardgame rotation. Like all great games, the simplicity of the rules makes this game very friendly to new comers but the depth in strategy and reprecusions of your choices make every tile/turn count. Although this version of Acquire is lacking in quality when compared to the previous versions, espically the beloved 19999 AV Hill edition, the fun factor is still unrivalved when playing with a large group of friends. I'm a little disappointed in the quality of the shipping as my copy had a large hole in the back of the box upon delivery.

Although it does not have the bells and whistles of previous versions, for any board game enthuasists, the flaws from this version will quickly be forgotten the 3rd round. Enjoy the long nights ahead.

    Wow! What a game !!!

Around 1987, my girlfriends mother-in-law found this game at a second hand shop and gave it to her. She knew we played cards and other games with our friends. To our surprise, this game became our favorite very fast and we all became addicted to Acquire. We played this game so much, the play-money in the game box started falling apart. We were thinking of starting AA meetings (Acquire Anonymous). We eventually helped her replace the game about 2 years later because of the wear & tear we helped put on it. But it was hard to find the game even back then. So if purchasing this game, you better pick up 2. Because your friends might not want to give it back after playing it.

    SO FUN!

Our family LOVES this game. It's been out of print for so long that the only way you could buy it was "used" on ebay--and very expensive. I'm glad to see it back. Takes a bit of time to learn but it's great. You never know who's winning until the end of the game and you tally up your money. A great strategy game! Not like Monopoly...this one you acquire stock and then watch out because a larger company can force a merger. You have to stay sharp. Not for young kids. Probably 12+! I'm ordering another one just in case it disappears from the stores again.

    Great Game - Terrible Edition!!

Aquire is one of the greatest games of all time, however this latest edition is crap. Don't buy this edition. Look for an older edition with good quality game peices. Our family loves this game and has for more than 20 years. I would never buy this one.

    Acquire from Avalon-Hill

We had the previous version many years ago. The game is fun and exciting as you sit around and try to talk players into alliances. Two players can play but the game is better suited to four or more. Usually, four of the family/friends play at one time with predetermine alliances. Ages range from 12 and up who play. My seven year-old played one-time on the predetermine alliance structure...he did well. He won!

    A Very Good Game

This is a nice board game, imitating quite well the way stock market works. The nicest thing about it is that it starts and ends within a reasonable time frame. Nothing like the endless Monopoly :) Any number of people between 3 and 7 may play it. On the down side, it is practically not playable by two people only.

    Great game; not great edition

Acquire is my favorite board game, but Avalon Hill cheaped out on this edition. All the game pieces are cardboard, and the game board is more like Scrabble than Upwords, which makes playing pieces difficult. There are some improvements over older editions, however. The design of the stock certificates, for instance, is nicer, and the hotels are easier to discern than in older editions.

If you can't find an older and better edition of the game on eBay, this edition is playable and certainly better than nothing, but it is not optimal.

    Acquire Board Game Review

We recently bought this remake of an old game to introduce to our children. My husband had fond memories playing this when he was a child. It's a wonderful game for everyone, learing about investments, financial spending, all in a fun way. I have to say however that the materials used in this remake of an older verson is rather flimsy. Highly recommend the game, however not as excited about the quality of the game itself. Could always shop for a old used version I guess.
