Apples to Apples has several immediate benefits: first, it's incredibly simple to learn...no difficult rules or complex situations. Another great benefit is the ease in both setup and cleanup; it won't take more than a few minutes and there are no tiny game pieces to worry about losing. But better than those features is the actual gameplay- Apples to Apples is inventive and original while still being easy enough to play with a range of ages. You being by dealing everyone noun cards (people, places, things). Then, the person who is "it" for that turn draws a green apple card, which has a describing word. For example, the card might say "delicious." Everyone else at the table will place one of their red-apple noun cards on the table...a card that they think will please the "it" person. The matches can be realistic, funny, wacky, or just plain absurd. The trick is that you want the "it" person to choose your card as a match to their green-apple card! If the person picks you as their favorite match, you get to keep the green apple card. You win the game by owning the most green apples!
Because of such simple gameplay, Apples to Apples is a great family game because even children can play, but adults won't be bored. The game can be played slowly and casually, but many people will find themselves in hilarity as they try to pick matches to please (or tease!) their family and friends. There are a few blank apple cards too...so you can slip in an especially entertaining match when you think it's right!
Apples to Apples is a great game to play with people you know: it's best for family reunions, parties with friends, or casual get-togethers. It can easily be played with people you don't know well, but the game really shines when you're with people you know intimately.

I bought this for my family, who are always here on holidays, I had my doubts if they would even play or not. My children are well into their 40's and beyound and grandchildren in their 20's. Was I surprised to find that once the game was played, they can't wait for another get-together to play again and again!!!!I myself love it and I'm in my 70's!!! Kate

We love this game and were drawn in by the "Party Crate" edition. Having the wood crate is nice for taking it places and looks a little different from the card board box housed games also on the shelf. It stands out from them, which is kind of a nice change. The game itself is loads of fun for a group of four or more (preferably more).

My friends and family love this game. It's a great game to play when kids are around also, since you don't really have to pay all of your attention to the game to play and have fun.

This card game was a Christmas gift. We have spent many hours playing this game as a family. It is always interesting to see what nouns and adjectives get matched up together and why. Lots of laughter and communication! It would also be a wonderful party game--a great icebreaker.

This is a fun-filled game for people from 9 years up. We played it with folks of all ages several times Christmas and the night after. It is educational and encourages lots of vocabulary challenges. My grandsons (9 and 15) have had several sleepovers this winter, and they always play it then and also during their weekly game night with their parents. I understand there are card refills to update the game that can be purchased because after a while kids memorize the cards that came with the original game. An excellent choice.

This is a great game to play with friends and make a night-in of things. The more twisted sense of humor you and your friends have, the better!

My son raved about playing this game with friends. He was thrilled when I surprised him with it for Valentines Day.
If you are looking for a gift for a Collegiate this should do the trick!

This is a great game to play with a large group of people. My family and I had great fun being silly when putting in our red cards. Lots of laughs and lobbying for cards that we thought would go best with the green card

My son in college played with friends and had me buy it over Christmas break. My 13 year old, Mom, Husband (who never plays games), my college student and I had a blast. Lots of laughs!

There are a few games out there that my son will play with me, this one was really fun and gave him the chance to teach me how to play it. As a Mom of a teenage boy...well that made it all the more fun. We have played with friends at a game night and it now become one of our favorites.
