When I received this game, the first thing I did was call my three closest friends to come and play. Since it isn't a player vs. player game, we were able to have a lot of fun simply going back and forth on ideas for the puzzles. The first few were very simple, great for parents playing with children. However, as we started to get into the 3-angle and 4-angle puzzles, we would spend almost 15-20 minutes on each page. This is really a wonderful game for both intellectuals and small groups looking for a fun time.

How often do we get to build things nowadays? The goal of this game is to build a 3-D shape given a set of different-shaped blocks. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well ... the first few shapes are pretty straight forward, BUT don't get too complacent! The difficulty ramps up and before you know it, you are working on the same puzzle for a good 20-30 minutes. By the way, as you struggle, watch your kids speed right past you! I loved this game because it levels the playing field between parents and kids, people with lots of mathematics background and those with none. Whether you play alone or with a group of friends (as the other reviewer mentioned), everyone has fun and everyone gets a mental workout. This is certainly one of my favorite games!

I bought Architecto for my kids. They opened the box and immediately started playing the game together. How refreshing not to have to go out and buy batteries, install a program or read a whole booklet of instructions before playing! The geometric shapes/building blocks are very well made. The high quality means the structures not only look like the diagrams, but are also to scale. Every sturcture my kids completed, stood exactly like the one pictured in the booklet. It may be obvious to say, but this game really strenghthens perceptive skills. I've even noticed that their drawings are getting better and more subtle. Archtiecto also has a long playing life since the blocks can be used for creative free form play as well for solving the included puzzles. This game will not sit on your shelf!

I purchased this game after greatly enjoying my previous purchase of MetaForms, and seeing as it was from the same authors I tried it out. Very simple to start playing, it also progresses nicely and I must say I've sunk more time in this than I intended to. There are not enough quality games out there that are good for parents and their kids, and actually help them learn useful logical thinking skills.
I highly recommend this game, soon enough I'll be checking out other games in the line with the success I've had with these two!

I bought this for a Christmas gift, and was I ever disappointed. There were maybe 12 blocks in this box and a book of structures. It was not a pleasant experience. The child who received it was really disappointed.
Grandmas should do better shopping!!

I purchased this game for my five and a half year old son, he loves the challenge and my 5th grade daughter likes it as well. It's something he can do on his own, or that we can do together. It comes with a booklet of designs you can build, the first being the easiest and the last being the most difficult. Each design comes with a picture of the blocks/pieces which will be needed to build the puzzle and then a picture of the finished puzzle and you have to figure out how to create it, no step by step instructions. Definitely teaches spatial skills and is supposed to be good for developing math skills as well. A step up from the standard wooden building blocks.
