    Educational made fun

The "Authors" card game is a good way to learn the names of some of the best classical novels and their authors. Each player must accumulate a set of 4 titles by the same author. This game should be played with a minimum of three players in order to challenge the memory a bit as to who has which card when you are looking for a match. "Authors" is an excellent way for children to learn names of books and become familiar with author's names. The game can stimulate interest in all ages to actually read the book, and the game is also great for adults to exercise memory skills for remembering who has which desirable card.

    I Also Recommend:

Pretty simple game but fun for children and adults alike

I remember buying the Victorian "classic" AUTHORS CARD GAME years ago in Woolworth's, right next to the "Little Golden Books" and the parakeets! The expanded AUTHORS & MORE series of educational games is based upon the original from Parker Brothers. This series now has other card games like "American Authors", "American Women Authors", "Children's Authors", "Classical & Romantic Composers", "Explorers", "Inventors", "Pioneers in Medicine" and "Scientists". Other than the original, I haven't been able to find the AUTHORS & MORE games in stock at my local Barnes & Noble bookstore. At least they sell them on the internet! Depending on one's interest, these are ALL great games for sharpening one's appreciation for the field in question. It's a pretty simple game to play, but is still fun for children and adults alike. The cards don't wear out either, which is more than I can say for the AUTHORS game I bought at Woolworths!

    International Authors

The Author's card game has been my favorite card game since I was a child and played with my mother's original deck. This new version is almost the same (except for the disappointing replacement of Rudyard Kipling with William Makepeace Thackery), even including the same scene on the back of the cards. My family plays with slightly different rules, starting with 7 cards rather than 4, but otherwise the game is the same. I highly recommend this game as a way to learn classical authors and excellent literature.
