    KInda pricey but convenient

My wife & I have 4 Scrabble sets: two different travel Scrabbles, one the hard brown plastic one and the other the zipper soft case one, one very old (actually we might have 2 of these but I can only find one) cardboard board in a cardboard box one, and this deluxe blue plastic big board one with the wheels on the bottom so it can face the player who is taking their turn.

Because of old age, we have only used this big blue plastic one since we got it.

The travel ones are just too small for old folks like us to see easily. In addition, in the zipper case one, the teeny tiles, which are supposed to snap into the board squares, just as easily snap out when you don't want them to. This problem is caused by minor distortions in the tiles, coupled with sloppy clearances on the board spaces. I think the problem would be eased if the travel tiles were wood instead of very lightweight plastic.

Back to the item under review: $40 seems a lot to pay for a Scrabble set but the deal was sweetened for us by Barnes & Noble with a $10 discount, plus our member discount, & free shipping, too. We did have to pay sales tax, though (boo!).

The big blue board is so nice to use & easy to read that we'll get our money's worth, I'm expecting. The wood tiles (just like the tiles in the old cardboard sets) snap into the plastic board and don't slide around in play. A bonus.
