My daughter is 5 years old and loves dinosaurs and as of right now want to be a paleontologist. She got this as a Pre-K Graduation present for finishing her first year in school. She loved it and she actually sat at the table for 3+ hours working of getting it out of the rock. (I'm sure older children will get it out of the rock in a faster time but she was being careful also.) We are now planning on getting her the Triceratops and an Ice Age Bird for her birthday and Christmas this year. I can't wait and I am so excited to see her face light up! The only down side is that it does make a mess with all the dust but is easily cleanable with a baby wipe or wet paper towels. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. My nephew is 8 years old and LOVES dinosaurs. To be able to "excavate" his own dino skeleton and piece it together was loads of fun for him and took several hours (which was nice for me - to keep him happy and busy that long!). The only warning I would give to friends and family is that it makes a mess. The "dust" that is produced while they're "excavating" gets everywhere no matter what. I had several towels underneath the kit but it still got everywhere because when the kids chip away with their tools, the dust just flies (which of course makes the kids feel like they're truly excavating so that's part of the fun for them.) The good news is that it cleans up really easily. Some wet paper towels and you're done and it didn't stain anything. I would definitely get this as a gift for any child who loves dinosaurs. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
