Ever wanted to be a pirate, sailing the high seas to gather jewels and vast hordes of treasure? This game embodies that secret desire within all of us. Sailing on a fabric map on a metal ship (it would probably sink, but that's beside the point) and ransacking towns for sapphires, emeralds, rubies, or diamonds. Even battling your fellow players out on the high seas. The card deck adds spice to the game, with interesting cards such as "You're sailing in circles after too much grog- move back 3 spaces" and "Cutlasses need sharpening- Deduct 1 point off your next skirmish roll". The object of this game is fairly simple, collect one of each color jewel, either from your fellow players, or from their respective ports. The first player to "Dread Island" becomes the Dread Pirate, with extra bonuses of raiding. This title can be stolen by an opposing player who defeats the Dread Pirate in battle. The game ends when all jewels are taken from the four ports. This game is very fun to play, and very funny as the glimpse of card text shows you. If you get this family game, you will have a good time. (Unless you lose) But seriously, it's fun for everyone! Please get it, you'll be doing yourself a favor.
