    Poor quality!!

This toy was difficult to put together. It's cheaply made; the parts don't snap together completely, leaving gaps. Other parts, once installed, fall out easily.

The animals fall over - they're front-heavy - unless they're seated in one particular spot on the toy where they make sound; they won't sound in play anywhere else. You can't play with them anywhere but in your hand or on the spot in the barn. Only one can make a sound at a time, because there's only one spot that activates them (as opposed to the MegaBloks barn that has three spots for animals to sound).

The fence is about four inches long and, despite having a hook, doesn't attach to the barn, leaving a shard of fence to "corral" the animals that fall down.

But the company sure included lots of John Deere logo stickers to cover your barn with, leaving little to the imagination about who created this faulty toy. There are no fewer than 10 logos to install in and outside of the barn. Your own little commercial!

I'm not sure I made it clear enough how disappointed I was with this toy. The only positive was the B&N staff who wrapped it for us while we were en route to buy it so my little gift recipient, who was with me at the time, wouldn't catch on.

If I were to do it over, I'd get the Melissa and Doug barn.

If there was a -1, that's what I would give it!

We bought the John Deere "Big Red Barn Playset System" for our son a few months ago and just recently gave it to him for his birthday. It cost $29.99 at Barnes and Noble. We have been looking for a good farm set, as my husband's family are farmers and what a great way to introduce our son to his heritage! Though this is expensive as "play farms" go, we thought the Learning Curve and John Deere names attached to it signaled good value and, more importantly, DURABILITY. Wow! Were we wrong!

From the moment we took the pieces out of the box, it was obvious that this toy was going to be a disappointing. Not only does the box picture items that are not included (twice as many parts of the fence and hay bales are shown on the box, but not included!), but all parts of this farm are poorly designed and do not function as intended. It took 3 adults to figure out how to put the barn together, but it still does not stay clipped together, and as soon as my son (a normal 2 year old) starts to play with it, half of the roof falls off, the top of the silo slides right off (does not snap on) and the doors constantly come off. My poor son brings it to us multiple times while he plays asking us to "fix" various parts. The hayloft does not in any way work as shown. And the tractor... I can't imagine who designed this!! Not only does the trailer NOT stay hitched to the tractor, the farmer can not possible "sit" in the seat because there is a piece of the tractor that sticks up, so he doesn't sit flat, but wobbles and eventually falls out if you push the tractor.

We have bought an inordinate amount of toys for our only son. In the two years of purchasing toys from multiple companies, this is the SINGLE MOST WORST TOY WE HAVE EVER BROUGHT HOME! I've never written to a company to complain in my life, but this toy REQUIRED comments! In fact, I noticed someone just the other day walking to the B&N register with this box, and stopped her to tell her "DO NOT BUY THAT TOY FARM!" Smart woman! She put it back on the shelf!

Because I bought this a few months back in anticipation of my son's birthday, I of course can not find the receipt (B&N price tag still on the box). Therefore, the box will be put out for recycle and we've wasted $30.

But we've gained important knowledge. Never again will be buy a Learning Curve or John Deere product again. With Christmas approaching, I am thankful we learned this before we started our shopping! If the John Deere company made their real tractors this way, I doubt the company would have been around as long as they have.

    Grandson Loved It

Bought this set for my 2 1/2 year old grandson (who tends to break toys because he takes them apart and puts back together if possible) He has spent many hours playing with it and it is still in great shap after 1 month. He loves the working parts: tractor mowing corn and silo) And since he loves John Deere it was realy a hit.
