    not true phonics

This item was a little disappointing...

In the mode where it helps the child to spell the word, it does not sound out the letter and say, for example, "find the letter that makes the "a" sound." It just says, "find the letter a."

Additionally, once the child has spelled out a word, it doesn't sound the word out, it just says what the word is.

Basically, this item does not teach phonics any more effectively than its single lettered counterpart, and will not actually help your child to read.

    Fridge Phonics

Fun and interactive phonics toy from Leapfrog is a novel way to teach at the refridgerator door. Your in the kitchen anyway. Why not make it a learning time?

    ages 5 & 3 still using after a year

We received this last Christmas and are still using. Its great to have on the fridge, so they are occupied while you are doing kitchen work. It is well made and cleans easily. Love it!

My 3 year old loved it!!

Love the Fridge Words! My 3 year old loves putting in the letters and has so much fun showing off the words he has learned to spell!

    Stopped working after one month.

I loved this product for the first month. My son loved to play with it and would stand at the fridge playing with all the letters and singing the ABC'c forever. My only problem is that after one month (and I did change the batteries) it started repeating the same line over and over again. My son did nothing out of the ordinary when playing with it. It was never dropped or thrown so I'm not sure why it stopped working so quickly. It's a great product as long as it keeps working.
