i read the review below that the map is not perfectly proportional- however, besides that, my 3yo son loves this map puzzle and i foresee it still being educational for some time. Very large sturdy pieces and cute illustrations.

I almost bought this last night, then realized a few major problems. Because the map uses the widely-panned Mercator projection,

    1) The entire continent of Africa, which is 14 times larger than the island of Greenland, is smaller than Greenland on a Mercator map. Greenland also appears to be much larger than Australia, though Australia is 3.5 times larger.
    2) Alaska appears to be the same size as Brazil, though Brazil is nearly 5 times larger.
    3) Finland appears to be longer north-to-south than India, though that's not the case in reality.
    4) Antarctica appears to be the largest continent by far, though it's actually the 5th largest.

This presents a major problem for an educational tool. They need to use a better projection that shows a more accurate representation of the world. I realize this isn't supposed to be a professional map, but it needs to be better than this.
