    Fun for the whole family

My youngest son "6" bought this for his older brother "10" for Christmas, because he likes Pirates. What a lucky find! It's a bit complicated to learn, we had to run a trial game to start. But the rules are very well written. The 10 year old mastered it after the first game. We played this until late at night we were having so much fun. It's a nice balance of strategy and luck, and there is more than one way to win the game, so it changes every time you play depending on what choices you make. The 6 year old was entertained playing with all the pieces, and being a teammate to a parent. "Besides, he's really lucky with the dice!". One word of advice - when you get out the game for the first time LABEL all the bags and the compartments so that you can get everything returned to where it belongs. This really makes set up and clean up super easy.

Fantastic New Adventures - Every Time!!

This is a great one to have on hand, as each time you play it is a different adventure. You get the choose how the game plays out, for example you get the choice to purchase or battle for land, so it's a good combination of luck and strategy...with more emphasis on strategy than dumb luck.

Liked it so much I bought a second one for a friend

I bought Pirate King last week and played it with friends over the weekend. We absolutely loved it. It was easy to learn because it had a very familiar playing style to it. Plays similar to the classic games we all grew up with, but with a little more pizzazz. It is kind of like Monopoly but the key differences are that you have some control over where your game piece (ship in this case) moves and you can attack the properties and take control of them rather than pay when you land on them. Oh and the Pirate theme of course. The artwork is amazing. So many original pieces of art. Lots of cards and stuff with different paintings on them. And I say paintings because this game is more of a work of art than I have ever seen in a board game. It is not ¿cartoony¿ rather more like old oil paintings. I liked the game so much I bought a second one for a friend's birthday coming up. Overall a great game for adults who used to love playing or still play classic board games like Monopoly and I imagine kids would like it as well.

    I lucked out!!

It's been a few years since I played these types of games myself, but I wanted to buy one for the kids. I knew they were big into the Pirate thing right now, so I took a shot on Pirate King. They loved it!! They even got me to play a couple times, and I had a good time with it. They are 15 and 12 years old and they've been playing it ever since they opened it. I could not have picked a better game for them.

    WOW! Finally something different!

Great game, period. Our family and friends love it. Combines Monopoly and Risk in a true Pirates of the Carribean setting. I have been waiting for a boardgame to play with the wife that doesn't bore me... and this is it- crazy how much she enjoys it as well! It's a win win!
