    Worst Scrabble Game Ever

I saw this on the website, and I was really excited. I thought I found the best Scrabble game ever. I was sadly disappointed when I got it. My husband opened up his present, and the grid was completely unglued from the glass top. I figured that maybe it just got messed up from the cold in shipping. I exchanged the game for another. That one had the tab that keeps the board in place while spinning broken. I was also disappointed with the tiles. I was expecting the nice, wooden tiles that have come with every other Scrabble game I've owned. These are just cheap plastic. A nice tile bag and a cool-looking wooden top cannot make up for bad craftsmanship. Cheap silver plastic may look like metal in pictures, but it's not the same in the end. Save your money. Don't buy this if you actually want to play on it. I'm returning mine.

    Not worth the money

The best thing about this edition is the glass board. Unfortunately, the cheap plastic tab on the bottom of the board broke in the first game we played. The base is cheap plastic. the Tiles are cheap plastic. And the racks are even cheaper plastic! Sorry, the only part of this game we liked was that it was SCRABBLE. Otherwise, don't bother.

Beautiful set, but really awful, cheap plastic tiles!

This is a beautiful Scrabble set, with one glaring exception. The tiles are horrible! They're plastic, very thin, and they don't fit into the board well. My little travel set has nicer tiles. I was expecting wood tiles given the cost of the set. They aren't even flat on the back--at first I thought they were unassembled, that they were to have backs snapped on them.

I can't imagine what the game designers were thinking. I plan to either return this set or sell it on ebay. Very disappointing.

Where In the World is The Timer

Well I Never would have expected such a beautiful game to be so cheaply manufactured. My children gave me the Signature Edition as a Christmas Present...after saving for a year to "Surprise Me" I was soooo happy until we opened the box to play! The PLASTIC peg that keeps the glass board from sliding was broken before we even took it out of the box! And WHERE is THE Timer? What in the World were you thinking....I was on my way to exchange my defective game when I read the other reviews and realized THIS IS IT! That's how they come! How disappointing! Thank goodness I got the Onyx Edition last year and had a Timer to play with!

    scrabble signature

It looks quite nice, until you start playing. There is a glass board with cheesy plastic pieces that do not fit. It's like merging a Lexus and a Yugo. Bring back the classy old scrabble game with a nice plastic board and wood pieces that fit easily.

    Very Disappointing!

This Scrabble game is such a disappointment. It looked so nice in the picture. The tiles are cheap plastic that don't fit in the grids. What looks like metal is also cheap plastic. It stands up too high to use on a regular table so is only good on a low coffee table. Way, way, way too expensive for what you get. I don't recommend it at all and wish I could return it but it was a gift and I don't have a receipt.

Not all it's cracked up to be.

Scabble Signature is a wonderful looking game. However, we were disappointed to discover that the set did not include an hour glass timer and the letter pieces were made out of a lightweight plastic. We were really expecting higher caliber, more finished marble or glass pieces considering the product's price range. Other than those two issues, we have no complaint.

    Prompt Services

I bought the Scrabble Signature Edition as a gift for my mother. She has the game out on display and enjoys playing the game. It is a family favorite.

Beautiful and well-constructed but not perfect.

No question but that it is a beautiful and impressive piece of work. What I didn't like is the cheap-looking plastic tiles. My biggest criticism is the height of the squares into you put each tile. It was very awkward to pick up the tile to see the scoring bonus underneath. The scoring pad was beautiful as well but the spaces to enter scores were too tiny.Bottom line: beautiful but difficult to play.

    Very beautiful!

My girlfriend and I love this Scrabble board! The rakes and base are both plastic, and I was hoping for wood. The base is very sturdy and the glass top rolls very smoothly around. The tiles are also plastic and do not have much weight to them. Comes with a very nice official score keeper. We Love this board!

    The ultimate Scrabble edition!

My wife and I are avid Scrabble players (we play almost daily on our iPhone/iPod Touch versions) and I bought this new version for her for a recent birthday. In our opinion this is the best-looking, most fun to use version of Scrabble yet and we could not be happier with it. For some players, I suppose the lack of a place to store the trays and tiles could be a disadvantage but our coffee table (under which we store our new glass board) has a very convenient drawer where we keep them. About the only other reason, aside from the not insubstantial cost, I can think of why anyone would not love this version is if it's very contemporary styling didn't fit into their decor or lifestyle. We had friends over this past Saturday night and after dinner we broke out the new board and they were amazed at how stylish it was and thoroughly enjoyed joining us for a game before and during coffee and dessert. Highly recommended for serious Scrabble players.

    Great Product

This is a very nice product, had a great time playing it.. And the price was GREAT. The size was good for all playing and the rotation of the table made it easy for the person who's turn it was. It was also east enough for my grandaughter who is 9 to play it. I would recommend this product to all families. When I first purchased it I thought that it would be overwhelming because of the size, but once out of the box it fit perfactly on the dinning room table. And the size made it accessable to all players at the table.

    Eye-Catching, Great conversation piece

I'm part of a group of Scrabblers that meet at the local Barnes & Nobles on Thursday mornings. We've seen this glass version before, and most thought it looked good. When Barnes & Nobles put them on sale, I just had to have one!

The glass and silver-painted base design is very eye-catching, and really is a fine converastion piece. Overall the design means it has a smaller footprint, thus can fit on smaller tables more easily than the standard boards. No doubt about it, the game is heavy, but chalk that up to the thick tempered glass.

The tiles are not standard size, so do not work well on a standard board. They do work fine on this glass board. The tiles are plastic, and are hollow (rather than solid), so are very lightweight. No chance of playing this game on the deck on a windy summer day!

I have heard problems concerning the mounting pin breaking off. Thus far, I've not had that problem, and I keep the game bouncing around in the trunk of my car. I would guess using some paste-like superglue would take care of the problem in no time.

One of my friends who purchased this particular version also had problems with the handle of the box. The cardboard is thin and weak in the area of the plastic handle, thus has the tendency to pull through the box opening. I took care of the problem with a few layers of good, old-fashioned duct tape. It strengthened the box well enough. It hasn't failed since then.

All in all, it's a unique gameboard, well worth getting... especially when on sale!

A 2010 Christmas Gift for MOM

My mom loves to play Scrabble and I thought this glass edition spinning board would be just the ticket for her. I am sure she will love the novelty of a game board that rotates instead of having to manually turn the old cardboard game. I think this is just the ticket for the Scrabble Affectionado, but I wonder what she will say about the large size of the storage box. Oh well, I am sure she will love it and use it. Besides it was a super great deal with the holiday clearance discount and my membership discount. Gotta love that great deal of a member discount card! It has been a great investment!

    NOT "fast" shipping!!

I ordered the Scrabble game and waited and waited and waited and waited! Took almost a month to get it. Neeedless to say, it did not arrive in time for a friend's birthday. Very dissappointed and I did not get any satisfaction from either the USPS or B & N. Both said I would have to continue to wait. Would never order online again.

    disappointing

    bad features:
    quite heavy, hard to handle
    quite bulky, hard to store
thin letters not easily held; small bag
letters do not stay in the spaces on the board

    good features:
    nice looking
    turntable frame is excellent
    nice scorepad,letter holders

for the high price, even on sale, this was really disappointing

    Don't buy it!

It is very attractive and the board is quite nice, however it is next to impossible to play, the plastic pieces are very thin and slide out of your hand and they do not stay put on the board the slightest tap moves them. Overall it was just frustrating. I paid half price for it and it still wasn't worth that unless you want it for decoration. It the letter spaces were a little deeper and the squares were would this would be perfect.

Excellent Hostess Gift for Scrabble Players

About a month ago I spent the weekend with my sister and brother-in-law who live in another city. Gave this Scrabble set to them as a hostess gift. They loved it. We had fun using it to play Scrabble that weekend. I's an attractive, impressive looking set, and makes a nice gift for Scrabble players.
