The gateway extension for Settlers of Catan

If you and your friends or family are fans of Settlers of Catan, chances are, there were times when more than 4 people wanted to play at the same time.

This extension enables 2 more players to play, by including 2 sets of roads, settlements and cities (Mayfair 4th ed. includes green and brown), and provides a wealth of resource hexes, development cards, resource cards, numbered tokens, harbor pieces, and additional frame pieces to facilitate the larger board size required. There are also blank tokens and a blank hex for creative variants.

The Settlers of Catan 5-6 Player Extension also serves as the gateway to the other Expansions/Extensions, all of which are dependent upon this one.

If you're going to play with the other Expansions with 5-6 players, you'll need:

Can't Get Enough of Catan

Our family loves this game. That's why we bought this extension set in order to add more players, but it's pretty amazing how expensive it is. There's so little to it: cardboard cutouts with a few wooden playing pieces and a set of dice. Hey Mayfair, why is it so expensive? And why don't you just include the extension pieces in the original game package? They're practically identical. Anyway, our shipment arrived on time, and we're having fun playing, but the cost is way too high.

surprisingly addicting

We are loving this game. It is faster paced then Monopoly, has aspects of Risk, utilizes both strategy and luck and is good for pre-teens through adult. The only negative is that we can't have more people playing at one time!

Don't necessarily need it unless you want to add more players but it's expensive.

I would rather invest my money in getting the Cities and Knights expansion set which is a must to get the full enjoyment from Settlers of Catan.

Excellent way to play Catan with more than 4 people!

If you have the 4 player base set of Catan, this expansion is a must. With it, you can go from 4 up to 6 players. All the pieces match perfectly with the original base set but it gives you 2 more colors for players to choose from.

5-6 player expansion for Settlers of Catan

This is a must have for those who are interested in Settlers of Catan. We played 4 games yesterday and it was great for everyone involved.

Great addition

playing with 5 & 6 people adds much more variability to the game, the only problem is they made one of the expansion colors brown, which is not aesthetically pleasing
