For those of you who really enjoy scrabble, you will love the new version. However, be warned that the games take even longer to play. I suggest you grab a boggle timer to keep the turns short. We played over the thanksgiving weekend and found 4-player games occupied more than four hours. The best thing about the bigger board is that it tends to stay more open. The new board includes quad letter and word scores, and there are some locations on the board where a clever player can cross two double word scores without using seven letters. This leads to very high scores and does influence the strategy of the game. This is the board all serious scrabble players have dreamed of. Those of you who hate getting 7 vowels or consonants - brace yourselves. You could easily end up with seven 'e's. Perhaps it is just my luck, but it seems this happens a bit more frequently with the larger number of tiles. One big downer is that the super scrabble board is flat and does not have a built-in turntable. We ended up putting the board up on top of the delux scrabble board, but even so we had a couple bumps that disrupted the letters. You might want to wait for next christmas - I expect the marketing guys will realize this huge flaw and come up with a delux super scrabble so we can buy it again next year :). By the way guys - throw a 3 minute timer in the box. The price (~30$) is fair - I would pay another 10$ to get a 'delux' style scrabble board with turntable. Overall, a great variation on an old favorite. Turn of the TV, get a couple bottles of wine and enjoy a long evening with some friends or family !

While I love the extra tiles and extra play space, I was real disappointed in the quality of the game pieces. The tiles are irregularly shaped, the print on them is not of consistant size and darkness, and the colors on the board are very faded. One tile is even missing the number of points it is valued at.
