Our daughter already knew about the "Teach me time" since the discussion of purchase and order from "BN.com". The idea to have a talking alarm clock really liked the five-year-old girl. She remembered and asked about it all 1.5 months of delivery (St. Petersburg). Now, this is a subject of adoration, which exceeded all expectations. We saw that using a game function, much easier to teach 5-year-old Russian child correct answer to the question: "What time is it?" As expected, the child is more organized and quickly gets up and going to kindergarten. It is an excellent purchase!

I love this. Not only does it teach time, but it keeps my 3-year old in his room until the green light comes on. He now comes running into our room saying, "the green light is on, the green light is on."

We now have 1 for our 4 year old and 1 for the 2 1/2 year old. You set the green light to last as long as you want (unlike a prior reviewer stated), so for ours it's set from 6am-8am, so if she wakes up during that time, she knows it's ok to get up. It has helped her know that waking up before 6am is not ok! She knows that when it turns green, it's alright to get out of bed. We love it, which is why we have one for each child, and we'll be getting it as gifts for our little cousins as well.

My just-turned 3-yr-old son has had a Good Nite Lite for several months (got it used). I loved most features about it, but it plugs into the outlet, and baby brother kept taking it out. It got old and no longer works, so I searched for something similar and was very pleased that this one had a cord (can put it up on a bookshelf away from baby) and so many neat features. However, the very feature I needed it for was a great disappointment (letting them know when they can get up). The green light telling them they can get up only stays on for a minute! (The Good Nite Lite sun stays on for about an hour, I believe.) It's totally pointless unless he just happens to be looking at it right when it turns on. Sometimes he sleeps in a few more minutes and needs to know when he wakes up that he can get up. Well, by then the green light is gone. Will be returning it.

The color of the face stays yellow and cannot be changed, making the "color changing" option useless (it's impossible to explain to a 2 1/2 year old that "Part of the clock stays yellow, but when the OTHER part of the clock is green, THEN it is time to get up!"). There is also no nap timer so if you have a child that still takes a nap you have to re-set the alarm twice a day. This product is not AT ALL what I had expected and I will be returning it.

Our son loved the first one so much that when it broke we had to buy another. They are not very sturdy and it is not as nice as the other one from same manufacturer, because it has a cord that must be plugged in in order to see the time, but as the kids like to sleep with it it is a little dangerous.
Their other clock "ok to wake up" runs by batteries and thus doesn't pose a strangulation issue.
mostly annoyed by BN customer service. They fail to ship on time and although it states it is kids club eligible we don't receive any credits.
Anyway, that goes for the other 300+ kids books and toys we have bought in BN, and which is not credited to us. We have not received one single award, in spite of weekly kids book purchases in store, a few orders online and 2 alarm clocks! They say our accounts are linked properly but it doesn't seem to work!

My daughter is 4-1/2 right now, and she LOVES this alarm clock. She already knows how to read the clock hands for every hour, but this clock is helpful in that it can teach her *minutes*. She is getting to the age where she can begin to wake herself up and start getting ready for the day without an adult (as in, getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc.).
She was so proud this morning when she woke up with her alarm clock for the first time :) It's a big milestone for kids when they can wake up on time and get ready for another big day!
This clock is just what we needed for our 4-year old who kept waking up at 6:00 AM rearing to go. We set the clock to turn green at 7:15 and our son now waits for his clock to change until he gets up (and gets us up) in the morning. The button on the left allows your child to hear the time as well as see it two different ways. This can get a bit irksome if your child hits the button 9 times in a single minute (as mine did last night), but I consider it a small price to pay for the extra sleep we are getting in the morning!

I bought this clock for my daughter's third birthday. Great clock. I do wish it had options for volume. Also the face light is a bit bright for my liking, and cannot be adjusted. For that reason, I have decided to use the clock in another room rather than her bedroom.
