    more from this reviewer

Bright, Fun, Durable, Just like Dad's Kindle ~ but annoying static

This is a Christmas gift for my 4 year old son. The graphics are nice and the menu is simple and easy to navigate. It comes with one animated book and I plan on downloading more (static) books when he's ready. It takes 4 AA batteries, but you can also use an AC adapter (not included). There is a clear cover to prevent the little ones from hitting buttons while reading. A Stylus is included, and I'm hoping my son doesn't lose it, but everything can be done by touch. One problem that I have is a very noticable static noise while the unit is turned on. There is music for everything, so that tends to drown it out. When you turn off the music it sounds like a poor-quality baby monitor or like bad radio reception. This would drive me crazy, but I do not think my son will notice and there is nothing like this on the market. I'm excited, he got the v.Reader and Daddy has a Kindle DX and Mommy will be getting a Kindle 3... a little electronic reading family! :-)

Would buy again but books are expensive and math subjects limited.

Easy to get around, colorful graphics, nice books, but books are expensive. Wish there were more books and activities to download; variety limited. Would be nice to have more math available.

    do not reserve!

Ive been a loyal costumer for about 15 years and always purchased many items for the holiday and many other occasions. i decided this year to price check an item for my son. i saw that i could reserve the gift and pick it up at the my local store, so i received my confirmation that the item is in store and ready for pick up. i get to the store stand on the wait 15min to see a sales rep, who obviously looks like they don't want to be at work that day and rudely tell me that they don,t reserve that type of item with a dismissive attitude. i was not offered any assistance to help me find the item in store. great way to to treat people during the holidays.

    Great E-Reader!

I ordered this V Reader as a Christmas gift for my children to share and it is so cool! They read kid-friendly stories along with it, and they can interact with each of the 'pages' in order to access additional content. The games are fun focus on literacy, and they increase in difficulty as my kids play and master the stages. I highly recommend it!
