Love Boxed

Love Rocks is a monthly look at new self-published romance titles from the community of writers at Rock*ItReads.

Reading books filled with passion is my favorite indulgence, and as a romance author, I get to call it work, too. A great way to sink into reading bliss is multi-author boxed sets, which represent a collaboration of authors, both bestselling and new, usually in the same subgenre or writing with a united theme. For today I’ve looked at two different sets to recommend—a contemporary and a paranormal. Boxed sets allow readers to try several authors, and do so for a fantastic value. Can’t go wrong.

A heads up: some boxed sets are published only for a limited time, so if one piques your interest, snap it up while you can. Also, some of the individual titles within a set are published separately as well, and some include never-before-released stories, only available in the boxed sets.

Riding Desire: Alpha Bad Boy Biker Boxed Set, contains fourteen—yes, that’s 14—brand new limited edition contemporary romance books, each with a different flavor, but all rocking a bad boy biker theme. From campus to biker bars, it’s a hot ride full of craving, seduction, and danger, and all in one volume. Some stories made me laugh out loud, like Love, Lex by Aster Avery. Gotta have your BFFs and VBFs. Savage Heart by Sara Fawkes introduced me to the world of a motorcycle club. Hot and dangerous. Loved it. And I fell for a mechanic in Nice Girls Don’t Ride, by Roni Loren. It’s a great collection, rated SH for Sizzling Hot.

Paranormal Nights, Volume 1, includes eight stories set in worlds with shifters, vampires, psychics, ghosts, reapers, dragons, and more. As dark as the worlds may be, the sex is hot and satisfying. As a paranormal writer myself, I love reading stories that combine otherworldy elements with real world problems. For example, Wolf Protector by Milly Taiden has federal agents investigating a crime, but with paranormal abilities at their disposal. Another fave was Death Times Two by C.J. Ellisson and Boone Brux. Loved the chemistry between vamp Asa and reaper Lisa as she attempts to rid the V V Inn of ghosts. I enjoyed the bunch of stories as a whole immensely, and when I see Vol 2 pop up online, I’ll be first in line. This collection is rated WH for Wicked Heat.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to find all this love boxed so conveniently. If I know I love one author in the bunch, it’s likely I’ll find a few others to add to my Buy List when they have new release. But it’s dangerous to have so many fabulous stories at my fingertips. Good thing it’s my work. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.

Happy reading!
