    Perfect for Beginners

This paperback was the first book that I picked up when I was planning my vacation to Spain. Before reading it, I had no fluency in Spanish at all and only knew a handful of words. I flew through it in just a few days and reread it a couple of times prior to the trip as well as on the flight. It¿s small enough to take with you everywhere, and I did just that while walking the streets of Barcelona in order to have an easy reference at hand. At just 2 dollars, 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words is definitely a great value. My only real complaint with the book is that there is no pronunciation guide. This proved to be a bit embarrassing during real-world application, but with so little time to learn, my Spanish would have been terrible regardless. Is this book going to make you fluent in Spanish? No. But it¿s a great start for anyone who wants to be able to communicate a few necessities in a Spanish speaking country. The main strength of 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words is that it keeps things simple and doesn¿t overwhelm beginners with too much information. This book is just a jumping off point or crash course for those who need to communicate a few ideas in Spanish. For more advanced work, the Learning Spanish Like Crazy CD set is a great tool with which to build momentum.
