Great Book for Elementary Music Classroom

This book is great! I use it in my general music classes as a way to introduce children to improvisation. By allowing a couple of students to play an accompaniment on the xylophone and the rest make up their own fanfare on thier recorders when each page turns, the book comes alive to the kids! I would highly recommend this book!

I have FINALLY found it again!!!

I absolutely LOVE this book! I first read it to my oldest daughter when she was two. She is now 18. When my youngest was born, I had lost our copy and it was out of print! I have now found it again. We love the rhymes and the lyrical, mystical quality of the story. Where are the kings from?? Where are they going?? Can we go too?? Please?? It is NOT a counting book, it is a song book with numbers in the title.

Beautiful word play, fun for kids and adults

My son and I LOVE 17 Kings and 42 Elephants. The sing-songy words are terrific. We remember it to this day and it's been over a year, I'm so glad to have found it here. My son was only 2 1/2 and I'm sure he'll love it more now. I'd love to hear of other types of books, language is so much fun and this book helped my son discover that.

This book is neither interesting for my kids or for me. I thought it would make counting fun. But it doesn't. This book is quite dull.
