Not exactly what I wanted from a Crock-Pot cookbook
A few of the recipes in this cookbook are pretty good - but for me, it's just not that practical. I was looking for some slow cooker recipes to try out, other than the two or three very standard ones I already use. However, the whole reason I use the slow cooker is to "set it and forget it". If you're going to do a whole lot of pre-cooking of ingredients and have to tend to the dish while it's cooking, then what's the point of using a Crock-Pot? You might as well just be cooking a regular dish. I don't mind the standard browning-of-the-meat and chopping of the ingredients, but most of these recipes call for quite a bit of sautéing and such before adding the ingredients. Was this review helpful? Some of the recipes really seemed like the author was stretching. Like she was trying to prove that you really can cook ANYTHING in a slow cooker. I mean, baking bread in a slow cooker? Give me a break.
