But here are the main points from each chapter/law of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership":
I. The Law Of the Lid: Leadership ability determines a person's level of effectiveness.
II. The Law of Influence: The true measure of leadership is influence--nothing more, nothing less.
III. The Law of Process: Leadership develops daily, not in a day.
IV. The Law of Navigation: Anyone can steer the ship, but it takes a leader to chart the course.
V. The Law of Addition: Leaders add value by serving others.
VI. The Law of Solid Ground: Trust is the foundation of leadership
VII. The Law of Respect: People naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves
VIII. The Law of Intuition: Leaders evaluate everything with a leadership bias
IX. The Law of Magnetism: Who you are is who you attract
X. The Law of Connection: Leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand.
XI. The Law of the Inner Circle: A leader's potential is determined by those closest to him
XII. The Law of Empowerment: Only secure leaders give power to others
XIII. The Law of the Picture: People do what people see.
XIV. The Law of Buy-in: People buy into the leader, then the vision.
XV. The Law of Victory: Leaders find a way for the team to win.
XVI. The Law of the Big Mo: Momentum is a leader's best fried
XVII. The Law of Priorities: Leaders understand that activity is not necessarily accomplishment.
XVIII. The Law of Sacrifice: A leader must give up to go up.
XIX. The Law of Timing: When to lead is as important as what to do and where to go.
XX. The Law of Explosive Growth: To add growth, lead followers--to multiply, lead leaders.
XXI. The Law of Legacy: A leader's lasting value is measured by succession.
A great book and the most digestible, practical, and actionable leadership book I've come across other than Leadership 2.0 which I also recommend.

My name is David Marquet, from Practicum, Inc and we help our customers structure their organizations to maximize the potential of their people. We call this leadership. One of the basic tenants we have found is that thinking about your people as "followers" limits their enthusiasm, energy, and commitment. The result is the need to empower them. Better is the organization that refuses to dis-empower them in the first place!
Unfortunately, it is through this centuries old leadership model that breaks the world into "leaders" and "followers" that Maxwell views the world. As such, the book has limited value for those moving to post-industrial age leadership models.

This is a book all leaders, born or made, should read. Maxwell's leadership laws are succinct and highly useful. He supports the laws with real business stories and leadership anecdotes, then he shows you how to apply these laws (each chapter ends with practical strategies and activities to help you reflect and grow your leadership abilities). Honestly, I couldn't stop reading.

It helps to read the book!
David Marquet - Practicum obviously failed to follow the basic rule of book reviewers - he failed to read the book. Everything he says is contray to the teachings of John Maxwell.

Simply Brilliant
When it comes to leadership. This book is number 1. Now with the updated version, there is a part at the end of each chapter which instructs you in the ways where you can apply what has just been tought to you. If this book is used to it's fullest pottential, you will become a leaders leader. The type of person anyone would want to follow. Not to mention, this book is extremely easy to understand. I didn't have to read a paragraph a second time to make sure I interpreted the words correctly. A highly recommended read for anyone who wants to develop themselves into a successful leader in any organization.

Maxwell is the leader of leaders!
This is my all time favorite book on leadership. Must reading for anyone in leadership, wanting to get into leadership, or wanting to see just how ineffective their leaders (if they are leaders) really are. Don't miss an opportunity to learn from John C. Maxwell's work or hear him speak!

Highly Recommended!!!
John C Maxwell is a time-tested leadership "guru." He's been communicating leadership principles for a long time, and it shows in this book. We read this book during my last semester of undergraduate studies. At the time, it was all about trying to ensure that I got an "A" out of the Business Seminar, but I re-read it recently and can see these laws and principles very clearly on projects and personal ventures. Definitely worth putting in your library.

The Simple Truth
This book is beneficial to me as a leader in my company and I believe that you can benefit from it as well or I wouldn't waste time writing a review. I highly recommend reading this book. You may already know several of the laws of leadership but even if you learn only four new ideas then you've become that much more knowledgeable as a leader. My team is worth it and it was worth my time invested. Is it worth your time? You decide.

A Must if you lead people.
I do not lead people in the workplace, this book goes beyond the workplace and into leadership principals that can be practiced into everyday life, family and friendship. When you read it, think about the people that you do work for.....you will sooooo badly want to give them a copy with a grin on your face, but when they were finished reading it, you will just have comitted political sucide. Or, the person that reads it may just implement these principals and make your existence in the work place tolerable. I know a few people at Airgas that should read this!

Outstanding
I've listened to these CDs several times over the last couple of weeks. As a senior manager in a court-related agency, leadership skills continuously need honing. As Maxwell himself asserts, leadership is not learned in a day or a week or a month - it is a lifetime of learning. About the 21 Laws - some are "no-brainers" while others really make one stop and think, finding areas where they can be applied. Whether simple or more complex, listening to The Laws inspires and motivates one to be the best possible leader he or she can be.

Great Read even better put into action.
Helpful and inciteful. Leadership has many venues, even as a parent, a teacher, and more...a good read but better when put into action. Results are just that. Results!

Maxwell's succeeds with a best seller
Maxwell's book is very entertaining and interesting to read. It was an easy read which makes it the best kind of book because individuals are simply given the facts of the book. I loved the application sections at the ends of each chapter because it allows you to be able to place the law of the leadership you have just read about and apply it to real life situations. Coming from a college student's point of view, not having much time to read a book, this book is great to make time for. I found this book very helpful to improving certain leadership skills before entering the work force.

Short and sweet: 21 principles of leadership
Frequent motivational author John C. Maxwell, a former pastor, squarely based these 21 laws of leadership on enduring values. These guidelines are meant to inspire, not innovate, as they offer techniques to make leading by principle a practical reality. Maxwell¿s straightforward, insightful rules are well worth the time you will spend reading them. We recommend this gem of simplicity as a game book for building stronger teams and becoming a better leader.

Learn leadership from a man who is a leader...
If you care anything at all about being an effective leader, you should get this book. From page 1 all the way through 226 of the book you will discover ways to improve your leadership ability in order to get greater results in your business affairs and your life. You need to read about the 5 myths of leadership. You need to know about the PLAN AHEAD acronym on page 40 You need to read about 'real leaders' on page 50. You need to read about how leaders think. You need to read about how leaders connect... You need to read about how to get people to buy in... The results that this book can produce in you is well worth its small price.

I don't need to go to a Leaderhip school
Great book that I don't have to waste my time going to a 4 years degree school. I told my boss about the book, and he said this is what he has to go to the headquater for the training. I told him no need travel for that I can teach him myself.

I'm just not buying it.
Yeah I bought this book and let me tell ya, It was the biggest waste of money since I bought the William Hung album. Not only are these steps impossible to follow, the language is not easily readable. Maybe in a perfect world would these ideas work, but as a resident of planet earth I am convinced they do not. Mr Ziggler is as phoney as his name sounds in my opinion, don't buy this garbage.
