    My thoughts EXACTLY!!!!

This book is the best voice for teachers I've ever heard. It's as if Mr. Done was writing my thoughts. The chapter on speeches and letters he would write to parents were verbatim for me.

This book gives the best insight on how teachers feel and think during the year from beginning to end. I've read the book 3 times in one weekend and I've found something new each time.

The introduction is touching. It describes to a "T" what a teacher is and more. It showed that teaching is more than just passing along knowledge. It is being the nurse, doctor, shrink, comedian etc.

Now when people ask me why I like being a teacher I tell them to read this book. It gives just and brief glimpse at what my job means to me and why I do it.

Thank you Mr. Done for finally putting into words what I have been feeling for the past 8 years.

Oh, by the way, 6 of those 8 years was as a 3rd grade teacher.

    What fun!

This book is truly a fun read for all elementary teachers. How nice it is to know that there are others out there who understand the life of a teacher, its surprises, all of its stresses, and its celebrations. No two days are ever the same for a school teacher. Philip Done captures this in his easy to read novel that can be read in 5 minute sittings, however once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. You'll laugh and cry through the whole book and feel validated for everything you have done, experienced or thought as a teacher. If you're not a teacher, your eyes will be opened as to the real life of a teacher. My daughter (age 9) even loved me reading it out loud to her. Since we've all experienced 3rd grade, everyone will get a kick out of 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny.

A must read for teachers, parents and politicians....

Mr. Done writes what every teacher has ( or will) encounter during their career. He explains humorously the time, sacrifices, daily encounters and amount of money teachers give.....not to complain, but to teach the reader. Teachers will connect with it, parents can appreciate what characteristics make a great teacher and politicians will get insight that educating our future is NOT an 8-3/August-May job.

    Great for any teacher

This book highlights the humorous aspects if teaching and teaches readers to see the comical side of any situation. Done's use of his humerous experiences are both witty and touching. Even though this book is lighthearted, it provides great life lessons and insight about what it is like to be a teacher. This book is easily relatable and renews one's faith and motivation in the teaching profession.

Touching real life account of teaching from a teacher's viewpoint.

I gave this as a gift to two teacher friends. Both have told me how they laughed out loud, chuckled and cried as they read it. They thoroughly enjoyed it and have both recommended it to other friends. It is very insightful, but entertaining. It will make you appreciate the teaching profession!!

I am just sooo lucky that this was my teacher!!

Well in my opinion a teacher is for students and the best way to teach us is to cooperate with us and understand us. Well in my opinion Mr.Done is one of the best teahers on the planet. He not only is your friend but also your older brother that in a very interesting way teaches you new things. I know cause he was my teaher. What's more till today I remember most of the famous artists and their paitings by the way he taught us, so in these funny clothes that were just like the ones that these artists used to wear. This book is just the experience he got with us kids. The book is funny but what's more you can find in it a way of saying thank you to the kids that he could teach. What's more I have to tell you that one story I know very well cause the writting chapter is about me!! THE BOOK IS GREAT and makes you feel happy and lets you to discover how hard it is to be a teahcer but also how much joy it brings.

    The Black Snake Named Licorice

I was a kindergarten teacher for 21 years and this teacher Philip Done knows all about kids! If you've been teacher for at least 10 years read this book. He struggles with the kids, the parents and the administration. He writes with openness, honesty, and humor. He tells about the boy who he thought 'cried Wolf' and who threw up on him and his desk after saying he felt sick many times. The chapters are easy to read and are set up in unusual ways. Even if you've taught for five years read this book! It's great!

    veteran educator

This book is a must read for anyone thinking of going into the education field. Having taught for 15 years, I laughed out loud while I read this book. It is the kind of story to pick up and read on days when we need to remember WHY we went into teaching! A realistic, heartwarming book.

    From a Student

My mom and grandmother are teachers and I thought the stuff that they put up with they made up until I was going through some of my mom's books and found this. It is a really great book. I couldn't stop laughing at what the kids did.

    Fantabulous Book!

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! I received it as a gift and couldn't put it down! I went straight out and bought 12 copies for my colleagues to enjoy. I even tried to read some of the chapters to my class, but I had to be selective since some are not appropriate for young children. It's a book that I think people would enjoy if they teach children, have children or were once a child themselves.

A must read before student teaching...

I think this should be a required text during the credential program in every state. Brilliant writing. I couldn't put the book down and along with the entertaining stories I think I actually learned a few classroom management strategies!!

    Possibly the greatest teaching book

This book should be required reading for all teachers. Phillip Done has done a terrific job spelling out just what is involved in teaching just by telling stories from one year of his career. It is all true. It will make you laugh and even make you cry. I recomend this to anyone who has ever taught or is considering a career in education no matter whether it's teaching, or coaching, or being a principle. This is definately a good read.
