Absolute must for true baseball fans

This book is an absolute must for true baseball fans. Baseball is about dreams and Coste not only chases but catches his dream in a book suitable for almost everyone. The book is written in a manner that everyone can enjoy and makes you feel a part of his journey.

    Inspirational!

Upon reading this book one is amazed at the dedication and sacrifice Chris and his family endured in pursuing his dream. The book's inside look at what's it's like to try and make 'the show,' despite all of the obstacles will turn you into a Chris Coste fan if you're not one already. With his solid collegiate, minor league and spring training performances you can't help but question why it took him so long to make it, and also wonder how many more like him that didn't.

    I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN

A fabulous must read for any true baseball fan or minor league player. I have never read a book that kept me so intrigued, laughing after one page, my eyes tearing up on the next and back to laughing a few pages later. If you read one non-fiction this year, this is the one you should read.

    a solid read

The best baseball books are like this one, where straight-talking people give honest accounts of their lives in baseball. I'd rather read oral history stories like 'The 33-Year-Old Rookie' than some of the other books on the market. This book, along with 'Working at the Ballpark' by Tom Jones and 'We Would have Played for Nothing' by Fay Vincent are in the same league. Great writing and entertaining stories that are full of life's lessons. I appreciate the candor and integrity of these three books.

    Emotional,Positive Story

I read the hardcover when it was released, and just got my copy of the paperback. Looking forward to re-reading the story, and the Recommend Recommend this to anyone who loves the underdog, a story of true perseverance. A roller-coaster read of triumph over adversity in the on and off field life of a minor league baseball journey to the show.

    A Great Success Story

I read the book because I'm a Phillies fan. However, this is a great read for anyone who is looking for an inspirational story. Chris Coste does not have superstar talent. In fact, on talent alone he never would make the major leagues. However, his workman ethic, giving attitude and team oriented view makes him very valuable to the Philadelphia Phillies, who are the defending World Series champions and will be major competitors as long as this team is together. The Phillies team is loaded with players like Chris Coste which makes them fun to follow. If you want to find out what makes the Phillies a good workman type team look no further than Chris Coste's book.

    The 33-Year-Old-Rookie

The 33-Year-Old-Rookie is an autobiography by a man who lives baseball. Chris Coste¿s dream was to play in the MLB. Throughout his childhood, playng ball is what he lived for. He lived in Fargo, North Dakota with not much of a family, and not a lot of money. Growing up with a baseball fan in his grandad, his mind was set on that sport. Through school he played ball, and frankly, was good. Chris played almost every position at a high level. Where he was didn¿t help the cause of recuituring so he went off to college. After becoming Division III Champs and playing a mens league..he got to the minors. Coste spent 11 years in a minor league uniform with a couple different major league times, his 11 years were very prouductive. He was 33 and had to keep fightingor his dream will be thrown in the trash. His story inspires baseball fans acrosss the U.S. Reading an autobiography was but different but nice. The reader becomes inside his head, going through his emotions. This story left me dumbfounded in a good way. I understood what he went through and how hard it was to try to reach your dreams. I recommend this book to all sports fan, not just baseball supporters. It shows ¿determinations, drive, and perserverance,¿ is how Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. put this book.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF NO MATTER HOW HARD

I just started reading this book late last night-i could hardly put it down. It seems like chris was destined to take the hard road all his life but with enough success along the way to keep him going. Without a doubt, he is an insiration to everyone who will read this book. I would put this in the same catagory as roger maris '61' and miracle on ice - 1980 usa hockey team.
