Why we are still right and they are still wrong

James Carville is his usual irascible self with his assessment of the current political landscape and what he foresees for the next generation of American politics. He is unsurprisingly partisan, and backs each of his positions with solid documentation and argument. Democrats should read this for encouragement. Republicans need to read it as a cautionary tale.

Carville does predict an eventual GOP return, but says that it will not be the same party that lost its way under the Bush/Cheney administration. For the next major political cycle (i.e. that next 40 years in his title) the Democrats, not the Republicans, will be setting the agenda.

    God help us!

My children and their future children are already buried under a mountain of debt from both parties. I can only imagine what it will be like with democrats running the show for 40 years if it comes to pass. This country is already screwed the way it is now. I feel sad for the country my two young kids are growing up in. Dictators rule, leaders govern and there is a difference. Enjoy being ruled over by our current dictator in chief.

    Pretty tacky

I definitely am not a Bush fan. If you want solid grounds for criticizing Bush, you can find plenty--but not much in this book. This is not a clear-headed analysis of what when wrong during the Bush administration and what needs to change. The false statements and non-sequiturs will give you a major headache. He says a lot that just is not true, does not even address evidence that might tend to weaken his views, and often makes assertions without even an invalid argument to support it. Repeatedly he says, "You're nuts if you think [whatever opposes his view]. Period." The book is seething with hatred. You can feel the nervous tension in every paragraph. I kept thinking, "What an insufferable jerk!" But still it is a little bit more than just a mean-spirited rant, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of one. There is some support to back up some of his obnoxiously phrased conclusions ("We're right, they're wrong.") One some issues he is right. The cheesiest part of the book is where he gives Obama and other Democrats advice. He wants to call the new program the "Real Deal" and insists that they should create a "narrative" (fairy tale about how the Democrats rescued government from the evil Republicans). I do not think the guy has a clue how irritating he is.
