I like this author and the story and characters. But i hate buying a book that ends up being what should be called an excerpt from a novel. Buy five or six "books" and you get one complete story. It is happening all the time now. No one writes a stand alone book. It's book after book in a series......that should actually be one book of 800 to a thousand pages. It's no bargain to pay two or three dollars each for every 250 pages. This series is one of the better ones but I think from now on I will wait until the series ends before I invest the time and money. Or maybe a writer will tell a complete story within one book so I don't have to buy umpteen books to get a beginning, middle and end of a story. I blame Robert Jordan. Thirteen books, really good books, but a lot of people who began reading the series as it was published didnt live long enough to be able to read the final book. Too many writers now write part of a story and sell it as a book when it is more like a novella from what would be a good novel if they would finish the story instead of selling it in pieces.

Jools Sinclair took a good risk by turning her excellent book, 44, into a series! The characters return stronger than ever, and we even get to meet some new faces! There are some harrowing scenes that will have you holding your breath, and the ending will definitely give you a shot of adrenaline! While I did enjoy the first book more than the second, it still had me counting down to the release of book three! I lowered the rating on this one because I would have liked to have seen the story go a little deeper; I thought it seemed a little rushed at times, and it ended too soon/abruptly for my taste. Nevertheless, I am glad to have it in my library and will be following 44 through to the end!

    Liked it

Author took the well devloped characters and continued the storyline in a new direction but true to the original. Still dark, still spooky, still leaving you not entirely certain what is happening and where it will go and who are our heroes. Well done. Look forward to next.

    Michael

Although some of the book needed to be fleshed out as it was jumpy or the characters underdeveloped, overall it was enjoyable. If you enjoy books that gets into the psyche of the characters then this may not be the book for you

Need to read, read 44 first though.

This is another need to read. I miss her boyfriend from the first book as much as she does. I wish he would come back more. This is another well written plot by Jools. His imagination really catches you and pulls you into the story.
