If you are into the Post Normal Society crash books, otherwise known at the "SHTF" books then this would be a great read.

This books traces the challenges a guy has when society as we know it collapses while he is far away from his family on a business trip.

His mission - get home.

I am a fan of this genere (which started after I read One Second After)

There are some disappointing books on this topic but this is not one of them.

If you are a fan I think you will enjoy this book

I recommend it!

good intro but downhill from there

Too much emotional dialog and not enough action Great intro but the story moves very slow and the main characters boring and rather helpless Ok attempt

Tends to lean to the Right, which is okay with me. In a world where
there is no government to take care of you, survivors tend to be people
who already knew how to survive without handouts before it hit the fan.
The social program people go crazy and get killed or starve PDQ. The
story does not have many strong women in it, and that detracts from the
experience. Writing and editing are weak at times, pace gets bogged down
at times. I still enjoyed most of it and give it three stars.

It was good but it left me wanting more, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. At over 700 pages I guess I just expected a bit more. I think what I felt was missing was more descriptions of interactions with others. The story somewhat glossed over interactions with others except for a few instances. I also found it interesting how the author repeatedly described what an EMP is. It was almost like he thought that most readers wouldn't know what one is. Not bad a bad read and certainly worth the money, but I felt it was lacking details.

    Fun.....

Fun, Fast ride. Big book, but not as much detail about the journey as I would like.
