If you are into the Post Normal Society crash books, otherwise known at the "SHTF" books then this would be a great read.

This books traces the challenges a guy has when society as we know it collapses while he is far away from his family on a business trip.

His mission - get home.

I am a fan of this genere (which started after I read One Second After)

There are some disappointing books on this topic but this is not one of them.

If you are a fan I think you will enjoy this book

I recommend it!

good intro but downhill from there

Too much emotional dialog and not enough action Great intro but the story moves very slow and the main characters boring and rather helpless Ok attempt

I really liked this book. It didn't go the angle of lots of technology and military involvement. It kept close to the central character all the way through and we see this devastation through his eyes. I thought it was a very original way to tell the survival after castastrophe story. I would read another of Mr. Gorhams stories.

Really a solid read from start to finish. Great characters who are ordinary people put into extraordinary situations not the typical ex-special forces types. I hope Mr. Gorham continues writing and sharing with us.

Just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. At 714 pages I was surprised at how quickly I read it. I found it hard to put down. Hopefully Ray Gorham will continue to turn out more good reads.
