    Love the Cuban sound

I do salsa rueda which is a danced based out of cuba. I got 3 of my dance instructors one of these cds because it's my favorite cd right now. It's got a lot of great music to dance to. I also drive alot and it helps me to lighten up.

Ninety Miles to Cuba, but this album shortens the distance considerably.

This is another outstanding album. Gloria Estefan brings us closer to her Cuban roots, and who better to serve as a contemporary guide? Like "Abriendo Puertas", this album has one hazard - it tends to make one want to dance, even if one listens to it in the car! (Watch those feet around the gas pedal!) It is amazing to find that this artist's voice has held up so well after such a long career! One can only hope that she keeps this type of album coming for many years to come.

Not as good as other releases

Whatever happened to the Gloria Estefan who made music like "Cuts Both Ways" and her other great albums? This album is a disapointment!

    A Classic

This is perhaps the strongest album of Gloria's career, easily on par with 2003's introspective and poignant UNWRAPPED and the classic MI TIERRA "1993". It's hard to compare 90 MILLAS to CUTS BOTH WAYS, as another reviewer did, as they are very different albums sung in different languages and with different intent. 90 MILLAS is not an American pop record. It's an ode to traditional Cuban music with contemporary sensibilities. And, as such, it is top-notch in quality. While "No Llores" was a breakout single "and the artist's 14th # 1, it's hard to pick a follow-up. "Caridad" is infectious and boasts an incredible musical arrangement "including an instrumental that sounds like it could transition into "Oye Mi Canto" at any moment" while "Besame" is a graceful but impassioned ballad. And then there's the sexy "Me Odio" and the half-political, half-sentimental yearnings of "Esperando "Cuando Cuba Sea Libre"" and the rhythmic title track, a duet with La India that is both urgent and arresting. And "Refranes" is a fun and loose track that recalls "Tres Gotas De Agua Bendita" (the duet with Celia Cruz from ALMA CARIBENA). I don't speak more than a few words of Spanish, but it's easy to appreciate this collection for what it is: an infectious celebration of culture and tradition. Muy bueno, Gloria!
