This book helps me to be resourceful. It has the basics for quick reference with a thoughtful overview and lists of resources online and in print. That helps beginners who always wanted to write one of those cute little books. Here is another word about resourcefulness: sometimes books are listed as not available at BN but new copies can easily be found on other online stores. I've written notes in mine so I'm sure no one would want my used copy. Besides, I don't want to sell it. The book is a bargin price new.

As a writer and student of writing I found this compact book to be a real keeper. it is a portable classroom. Thanks, Betsy, for putting so much information so succintly. both the novice and more experienced writers should find this booklet to be very helpful.

    Helpful ideas, books, and websites

There are so many insights and resources in this book. It is a basic guide with information about writing, developing a story, writing different kinds of books for children (poetry, concept books, etc.). Be sure to refer to the appendix for lists of books, websites, phone numbers, and regular mail addresses about copyright, writer's webrings, self-publishing, etc. where self-publishers can get ISBN's, bar codes, etc. I make notes in this book when I'm at the library and at the computer. I use it often.

This book opened up a dream for me and made it become a reality. It has so much that helped me know how to write and how to present my book to publishers. There are so many inside tips. Also it helped me decide that my style was more suited to non-fiction than to fiction. I just hadn't considered non-fiction. Now I've made a book sale! She covers non-fiction, fiction, working with publishers or self-publishing, and more.

    Meaty Insight

This little book is the only guide I've found about self-publishing children's books (it also provides great info for traditional publishing too). Children's books are written, sold, and promoted much differently than other genre. This book might be small, but there's lots of meat here--it covers the important aspects of publishing children's books, and its suggestions will help writers along the road to success.

A lot in a little book

This book is small and the price is small also but it is packed with information. It is great for going over the basics of writing for children, for finding lots of resources on the net and in libraries, for deciding if you should invest in self-publishing, and for sending your book to publishers.
