This is simply a fantastic book. An enjoyable read from start to finish or just to read intermittently at any point you choose throughout the text. Concise, well-crafted chapters. The book covers all major points of Irish history. The sidebars add informative material on aspects of Irish history, such as major personalities, the Irish flag, and even Irish beer as well as first-person accounts of major events. Excellent bibliography. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an entertaining narrative of a country that has played a central role in European, and world, history. Was this review helpful? After a writer, publisher, and proof-reader have looked at a book, I am amazed this still hit the market. Using the 50 page rule, for larger books, I put it down. A history book must follow a strong time-line, yet I found this book to go forward and then jump back continuously. Incredibly confusing to follow. Poorly written, as well as finding some discrepancies with other Ireland histories I've read. One of the few times I wished I could return a book. Was this review helpful?
