When I first started reading A Matter of Fate, I wasn't sure about this whole new world of "magicals", but I so loved this author's writing style that I wanted to keep turning the pages and before I knew it, I was addicted. What I wasn't prepared for is just how much I fell in love with this amazing, other-worldly, sweet, fantastic story. It is now absolutely one of my favorite reads OF ALL TIME. It's all here for you to enjoy. I completely and positively encourage you to read A Matter of Fate.

I love the world Heather built! The love triangle is very well done and believable. Chloe was infuriating at times but then I had to remember she's a teenager. I highly recommend this book even if you hate love triangles!!

I honestly don't know where or how to even start this. My heart

I honestly don't know where or how to even start this. My heart is shredded. Completely shredded after reading this book. My emotions have been jerked around every which way and let me just say: this book was pure awesomeness. Without a doubt- this book has the BEST, MOST WELL-DONE love triangle I have ever read. Those of you that hate love triangles? You aren't going to be able to hate this one. You aren't. Because it makes SO MUCH FREAKING SENSE. Gahhhh. Ok.

This was a 5 star read for me and an incredible start to the series. It is a long one, but there is so much to learn and so much going on you really don't even notice how many pages you've read already! First of all- Heather has done an incredible job with the world building. The way that she introduces the characters and explains their crafts is perfect. I didn't once feel like it was info-dumping, even though she did present us with a lot up front. Her writing style immediately pulled me in and I was so interested in all of these side characters and their roles and couldn't wait to see how they functioned in the Magical society.

Chloe is our main character and overall I liked her. There were times she frustrated me to no end and I was yelling at her to stop being such a teenager (LOL, I know.) I think what I liked most is that Heather created a very real character in Chloe. Yes, she has her moments where she can be irritating and whiney. Yes, she can be indecisive and she makes some huge mistakes. But she is a fighter. She would risk herself and throw herself in danger if she knew it would protect the ones she loves. The thing is? Teenagers aren't perfect. They're not supposed to be. They make things into bigger deals than they really are. She's absolutely frustrated because her life is mapped out to the letter. She has no choice in anything. Her schooling, her job, where she is to live? All preordained. For any person that is extremely frustrating. But to be 17 and know all of this? Not to mention- her parents are so guarded and emotionally distant. They don't answer her questions about the future and when she needs parents to care and comfort her, she doesn't get that from them. She is told she is acting immature and needs to suck it up. Chloe is a bit obsessed with two boys. And when you find out why? Yeah, you can't really blame her. I can see where some people wouldn't like Chloe because of the constant back and forth with her feelings, but I think that's what I like about her. She's completely 100% realistic and if I can't relate to my characters, it's over for me. The book won't work. I didn't get hung up on that side of Chloe- she has so many other endearing qualities.

This book does deal heavily on the romance side. Chloe is torn between twin brothers Jonah and Kellan. She has known Jonah all her life, as they met and were able to communicate via dreams. Neither knew what it meant, but over the years they fell in love with one another. The last year Jonah stopped visiting her and she is absolutely shattered. The two not only fell in love, but they formed a bond with one another. Imagine her surprise when he shows up at school. Imagine her surprise when she discovers he also has a twin brother. A twin brother who she instantly connects with. Yeah. Love is messy. Like I stated or exclaimed above- the love triangle is handled so amazingly. I mean, my heart is broken, because Heather has already stated she doesn't believe in polygamy. So there goes that option. I loved both brothers. You couldn't force me to pick a 'team'. Kellan serves as Chloe's constant for a good portion of this book- she feels comfortable going to him. Kel is definitely the more impulsive twin. Jonah is much more calculated, calm. Both would do anything for Chloe and risk themselves to protect her. Chloe's decision is most definitely not cut and dry. You know who she's supposed to be with according to Fate, but there's definitely more to it. I know you love triangle haters are going to be all, "Just pick one already! Quit jerking them around!" Again. Not. That. Simple.

Even though I felt like a lot of the book was dealing with Chloe's love life, Heather weaves in this paranormal world that I adored. I didn't feel it was too out there or non-realistic. She introduced Elves, Fae, Goblins, Dwarves and did it in a way that completely made sense to me. I really enjoyed the idea of the Magicals and the fact there were different planes of existences. Every Magical has a craft and Ascends (gains full power) at the age of 18. Chloe's craft is quite unique, as there is only one other besides her. When a string of Magical murders occurs, Chloe finds herself a prime target and must take the proper precautions. She has some members of the Guard step in to watch over her and by far my favorite side character is Karl. He is only 21, so not much older than Chloe and her friends. Yet, he is so protective of her not because it's his duty, but because he forms an attachment to her and cares about her well-being.

This is a great start to the Fate series and I can't wait to see where Heather takes us in A Matter of Heart!

A Matter of Fate is an emotional roller-coaster. I could not put

A Matter of Fate is an emotional roller-coaster. I could not put this novel down after reading the first chapter. Heather Lyons grabbed me be the heartstrings with Chloe, Jonah, and Kellan, and she didn't let me go. I love a well done love triangle, and Lyons gave me a heartbreaker of one with these three. I think I know who I want to see Chloe with, I just don't know if the author will let me have the guy I’m rooting for. But I’ll trust the author’s decision with either Jonah or Kellan. In this first novel it’s pretty clear who Chloe is supposed to be with and who she has chosen to be with, but I'm still hoping that some way, the guy I want will be the one.

I will say that I do love both these guys, who are twin brothers. This is also a paranormal story, which is another plus for me. Heather Lyons’ world building is incredible, especially the different powers of the Magicals’ race that are living secretly among the humans. I fell in love with all the beautiful characters in this novel, there are so many, and all of them have beautiful personalities. Lyons also gives the reader a few other romances with Chloe's friends in this amazing story.

A Matter of Fate is an absolutely beautiful story about a girl growing up, accepting a life that Fate and the leader of the Council has decided for her, and learning the commitment of love. I recommend A Matter of Fate as a beautiful love story that will touch and break your heart for Chloe, Jonah, and Kellan’s destiny to love each other.

Amazing, a Must read for Paranormal lovers like me. Twist and turns, suspense, just great!!

I enjoyed this book about as much as I enjoyed the world of Harry Potter. In a more grown up way (about to graduate from HS) This was written so well, and in a way I was able to connect with the characters. There were times I wanted to smack Chloe and make her see the dumb things she would do, but she is young, so I forgave her.
I know some people do not like the love triangles and soul mates and stuff, but for me, when the world is magical like this one, the whole soul mates thing is ok, it’s part of that kind of world. So I accept that and expect that kind of thing.
I really loved Jonah, and even liked his twin Kellan, but Jonah hit a special spot when she was describing being with him in her dreams her whole life. And I just loved it when he was real, and she was shocked, and didn’t know if he remembered, and this is a mistake I think Jonah made in not approaching her right away when he showed up in the flesh at her school. I do not want to say a whole lot about it, but he is her soul mate because if a Magical has the dreams like they did, it means they are connected. Meaning soul mates. Well, Kellan, his identical twin brother doesn’t know anything about the dreams, and just is friendly to Chloe, and they start to hang out, and then she is feeling this pull toward him too. I believe it’s because the whole twin thing, maybe she feels some of her connection to Jonah through Kellan. I gave Chloe some slack on this, as I felt she was very confused, and didn’t know that Dream Jonah was real.
I loved how the story progresses, I did feel a little bit too much may have been spent on a needless relationship, since it was not her soulmate, but it’s cool. I think maybe later there will be a reason more for it.
Anyway, I was on the edge of my seat many times with the action scenes when Chloe is trying to survive these threats on her life, and how the Guard protects her. She is an important, but ignorant Magical, she is a Creator, meaning she can just about create anything but a few things. They are rare and only 2 ever in existence at a given time.
Kellan and Jonah are important too, as Emotionals, and I found their abilities fascinating. But I was also glad when I seen Chloe use her power to help, even if one of the best things she did, was by accident, loved that. I will say, the last half of this book was amazing. It just got better. I hate when I see poor reviews that people do,who bash something after only reading half a book. I give no credence to those at all. As the first book in a series, usually the first parts are getting to know everyone and setting the foundation for a great series. Which is what this did. It’s done very well.
This book is super good. You really need to check it out. The only thing I didn’t like, is the cover. It just does not do the amazing story justice. I almost passed on this book tour just on the cover, but decided to read the summary, and knew I would like it. And I was right and so glad I did decide to read it, I love it.
I am can’t wait to read book two. A Great paranormal romance, with some great action and wonderful storytelling.

Wow! This book was so much more than I was expecting. I must warn you going in, there is a major love triangle in this book. I happen to love them. They create tension and make it hard for me to step away from a book like this.

Heather did a great job with the romance in this book. It was so good, that she had me crying through a good fourth of the book. The emotions of the characters was so raw at one point, you felt everything.

It didn't hurt that Kellan and Jonah were sexy twin brothers either. Finding the man of your dreams, literally, is every girls dream come true. Then finding out there are two of them, BONUS! They are both great guys and I couldn't wait to see what was going to develop with them as the story progressed.

The magical aspects of this book were good. The author penned an alternate reality where magic is real, without flooding the story with it. There was a good balance of human and magic.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book as a whole. They all played their small part to making this book whole. This is one debut by Heather Lyons that is not to be missed! I am giving A Matter of Fate five glittery stars for being that great read than many miss in their debut novels.
