This book is an awesome combination of laugh-out-loud and endearing moments. I loved every moment with all of the characters...

Bronte Talbott is a New Yorker at heart - stubborn, independent, hard-working women with a hilarious trash-talking mouth - she's living a good, happy and successful life in New York. Until she's swept off her feet by a country boy and begins a long distance relationship. Thinking that things are moving along and that this is IT, she makes the decision to move to Chicago to be closer to him. What?! It's not like she's moving in with him and expecting more... she couldn't have been more wrong! Now stranded in Chicago all alone she fills her nights and weekends with books. Yes her job is doing well and everything else seems to be good. But her heart feels like its beyond repair and so she decides that what she's needs is a 'rebound guy' to get her over the heartache. In the meantime, she looks forward to her weekly trek to the local bookstore every Saturday morning in hopes of drowning her sorrows in a chic lit.
And then she sees him.
Max Hayworth is every girls dream - he's charming, smart and British! Oh my, his accent alone had her in a puddle. Max is only in town for the next weeks - perfect! She found her 'rebound-er'... or did she?
After learning the truth about Max the book turns into an even more delightful page-turner!
How will the royals react to Bronte? Will she fit in? Can she handle being with a duke? And more importantly will she be able to not only love him, but let him give her the love and attention that she deserves too...

It was interesting and nice to see Bronte let her guard down and be vulnerable. Every tough girl has a romantic side where she wishes to be a princess. And in between all the sarcasm and tough-girl antics, Bronte is very sweet, loving and even though she knows she doesn't need a man, she wants one - could that possibly be Max? Can she be what he needs her to be plus meet all of her own expectations?

I adore this book and will definitely be re-reading it again!
I highly recommend adding A Royal Pain to your shelf :)

This book irritated me so much I deliberately stopped reading it when the heroine completely failed the hero emotionally (for about the 3rd time) and he left. I decided she didn't deserve him coming back, so I stopped reading when she was miserable without him, just so in my mind she would stay that way. He was by no means perfect, but he was far, far better than she deserved.
The heroine, Bronte (like the uptight Lit professor she loathes her father for being would allow his only child to be named after some of the most histrionic authoresses ever produced by Britain? I don't think so.) is selfish, immature, and completely self absorbed. Yes, bad thinks have happened to her, but you know, pull up your big girl panties and go on. (Or in her case, your ridiculously expensive couture lingerie, along with some shoes involving kitten heels, bought at a fabulous sale somewhere.)
She fails Max when his father is DYING! Because OMG, she is just too angsty to be supportive or helpful or see anything beyond her own teeny tiny little world view to realize that, you know, she actually isn't the only person on the planet, and, go figure, other people have problems too.
There aren't a whole lot of books that so aggravate me, or are so unworthy of my attention that I don't bother to finish them, and I read a LOT of books, but this book joined that very small number. If only, like I said, so that Bronte would be left to the, Max-less, state I preferred for her. It's possible that he wised up in the end and dumped her whiny little butt, but I'm not willing to take the risk.

    Great read!

Loved this book. A must read. Bronte's character is a bit foul mouthed, but she's endearing with her vunerability. Max is a dreamboat. I started reading this book on impulse and didn't know what to expect. First time reading this author. Can't wait to read more of her books.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!! I especially loved that Megan Mulry created a female character that could teach sailors to cuss!!
Maybe I related to Bronte's character better because it was like reading my own language. A book with humor and both Bronte and
Max come from two very dysfunctional families had me wiping my eyes more than a few times from the many emotions Mulry had me
feeling as the reader, mainly laughter. Now I can't wait to find more of Mulry's books.
