Little Work, Lots of Results
I was a 5 foot 2 150 pound girl. I had great arms and legs and knew how to dress so that I did not look fat. But I felt it and could not see my abs. I could not wear a bikini or do a sit up. I read this book. Just changing tiny habits (I stopped eating randomly M&Ms all day and actually gave myself a serving of them once a week) and combining the simple exercises I could do during regular activities made a huge different. On my wedding day people wanted to know what my secret was, and on my honeymoon I wore a bright red bikini. My abs were flat and fantastic, and I actually lost 25 pounds too! I feel better, eat more (but healthier) and feel GREAT. Thank you for this amazing book!

Not for all shapes
This book gave a lot of detailed information, as well as great recipes and a large workout section. However, it does not provide the right balance of nutrients for pear shaped women, who need lower fat diets to lose weight.

Life changing experience
I am a member at a health club in town and a trainer there offered her help to me and advised me to read Abs Diet. I was three hundred twenty one pounds at that time. Since then and reading the book three times I am down almost fifty pounds but more importantly about six inches off of my waist. The more you go into the book the more inspired you become. It is easy to translate and put the practices of what you eat and exerciae into a plan. With the help of a trainer at a club who practices these principles it is even better. I have more energy than ever and am looking forward to reaching my goal weight loss of one hundred seven pounds. Would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has weight problem and wants to lower their waist size. My wife has ordered the Abs Diet for herself in the womens version and has started seeing a trainer to help her being she is cancer surviovor. I know this has saved our lives and are looking forward to a long life with our new lifestyle.

So far, so good!
After reading this book and following the guidelines, I went from 146lbs to 142lbs in the first week... I am a very picky eater, so this plan is great because the recommended foods actually TASTE GOOD! There are very few items on the "power 12" list that I don't like. The breakfast smoothies are delicious and easy, and have become a staple in our house.
I will admit that I have not made any of the lunch or dinner recipes, but I HAVE created meals using the food items recommended throughout the book (i.e. lean protein, whole grains, added calcium, etc.)
Other than the smoothies, my favorite part of the plan is the workout - The "circuit" approach to strengh training makes it feel attainable, yet effective. The interval training concept makes cardio go by much more quickly. Overall, a very motivating "diet" plan!1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Loved it.
This book was very full of information. I have read a few different healthy eating books and at this point this is my favorite. The exercises are very simple and show both gym and home examples. I have recommended it to many people.

No different than any other 'plan'
This book was very disappointing. It says it addresses vegetarianism, but nearly every meal recipe is based on meat. Take out the meat and you're left with nothing interesting. Also, in order to follow the smoothie recipes, you'll have to buy 3 different containers of whey protein as well as a flax product. The workout plan is so disjointed you'd have to take the book with you to the gym to remember what to do and/or write out a chart to keep handy. There was absolutely no new information in here. Everything in moderation, eat low-fat dairy, lean meats, get some exercise. That about sums it up.

Love it!
I love everything about this plan. The recipes, the workouts, being able to drink wine and have a binge meal is a plus! I don't consider it a diet, more like a healthier way of eating. I highly recommend it.

A reviewer
This book spends way too much time selling itself. Being from the editor of Men's Health magazine, I don't know if the author believes that women have an innate need for rhetoric and rambling, but this book has both. Included are explanations of why other diets don't work, as well as lengthy explanations of why this one does. I bought it believing that it would provide me with more information suited to my feminine needs than the original Abs Diet book. Basically, The Abs Diet for Women combines the material from The Abs Diet and the additional food guide, and throws in some additional exercises for yoga, Pilates, etc. Since I already have the original Abs Diet and the second DVD, this book is unneccessary.

Rip-off!
I hated this book. It made me crave a cheeseburger and when you are trying to get beautiful abs that stinks. Do not read this book unless you want to gain weight.

Good book for your diet plan
This is a great book if you are interested in doing something about your body shape and weight. However, as I already owned the original Abs diet book by the same author, I did not feel that this book had anything new to offer me and felt compelled to return it to the store. If you do not already have the original book and want to really do something about your shape and fitness then go ahead and buy it - you will be quite amazed by all it has to offer. It is not a big deal to buy the whey powder - it is sold in lots of supermarkets - it makes the smoothies thick and creamy and very filling. You will need to have a blender though to make the smoothies - no doubt about that. Also if you need a DVD to help with your exercising I can highly recommend the Abs Diet for women DVD as also the previous two in the same range. Of the previous two, I do prefer the Abs diet workout vol 2. Try them - so far, working out and adapting my eating has led to a 6lb weight loss and half inch disappearance around each of my measurements. I am very pleased so far!
