This was a really quick read but a good one. The story kept you wanting more till you were finished. It starts off with Joseph being ordered by Eva’s father to guard her at all costs against the Cartel, who are intent on showing Eva’s father they can’t be messed with. This assignment is going to be difficult since Eva hates Joseph over an event that she misinterprets. Joseph tries several times to tell her the truth of that awful night, but Eva doesn’t want to listen. She’s been hurt and can’t get over the pain of that betrayal that quickly, even when she finds out the truth. Throughout the story, Joseph and Eva struggle to regain the trust they once shared and to stay alive from the Cartel. When Eva is taken, Joseph realizes that his feelings could never go away and he will always love Eva. When Eva thinks Joseph is in danger, she realizes she was just scared to open her heart again to the man that can ultimately destroy her. The only character I did not like was Eva’s father. Just on a personal level I thought his dealings with the breakup and subsequent events were a bit out there, then when he finds out the truth he changes his tune pretty quickly like he didn’t add more heartbreak to his daughter’s relationship. Other than that, I really like this story and the characters that were presented
