duet clarity, harmonizing, southern cajun/creole music

i love that you can hear the individual instruments, including the 2 women's voices.....as separate, intertwining melodies....."southern music, why are you so sad?", sang maria muldaur, years earlier, and this album has many truly sad songs, but some bright ones as well.....has a historic feel to it, like pioneer farmers and cajun survivors on the bayou.....i like it way better than i expected, because it is genuine and gives you a glimpse of past lives......

    beautiful music

Just bought this cd after seeing it was nominated for a Grammy for folk album of the year. A stunning collection of songs and such heartfelt performances. Reminiscent of Ronstadt's other recent triumph with Emmylou Harris: The Western Wall Sessions. Savoy is a new discovery for me and a wonderful one. Highly recommended. Ronstadt enters her 40th year making records in fine style.

THIS FOLKSY POP PIECE OF HEAVEN HAS CLASSIC WRITTEN ALL OVER IT

THIS NEW RELEASE BY LINDA AND ANN DEMONSTRATES THEIR ADMIRATION FOR EACH OTHER AND THE MATERIAL THEY COVER!!! IT IS AN OUTSTANDING ALBUM WHERE THE SUPERB VOCALS AND INSTRUMENTATION SHARE THE SPOTLIGHT. THE PRODUCTION IS EXCELLENT ALSO AND NO EXPENSE WAS SPARED TO ACHIEVE THE HIGH QUALITY OF MUSICIANSHIP DEMONSTRATED ON THE ALBUM. ALL TRACKS ARE EXCELLENT AND ARE FROM VARYING GENRES SUCH AS FOLK, POP, CAJUN AND BLUESGRASS, BUT THE STANDOUTS FOR THIS REVIWER ARE THE TITLE TRACK FOR IT'S HAUNTING AND TIGHT HARMONIES, 'KING OF BOHEMIA" (A RICHARD THOMPSON SONG) FOR THE EXQUISITE AND EMOTIONAL VOCALS BY LINDA, THE COUNTRY BLUESY "THE ONE I LOVE IS GONE" AND A SUPERB EMOTIONAL READING OF THE POP CLASSIC "WALK AWAY RENEE." IT IS AMAZING HOW COHESIVE THE TRACKS ARE AND HOW THEY FLOW TO CREATE A MUSICAL EXPERIENCE!!! DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS FINE COLLECTION DESTINED TO BE ON MANY CRITICS' CHOICE FOR TOP ALBUMS OF THE YEAR!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! 5 STARS!!!! EDDIEJINNJ

An amazing journey thru highs and lows of love

Came across this album by chance. Have always been a HUGE Linda Ronstadt fan. Had only known Ann Savoy's sound from the film "The Sisterhood of the YaYa's." This is the perfect blend of voices. The music choices are perfect! Love this album. Great for morning listening as you drink your first cup of coffee or take a walk through the garden.
