Made me stop buying Amanda Quick novels
From Dangerous on (and the backlisted titles) I was a huge Amanda Quick fan. I loved her blending of romance and mystery in a historical setting. Then she came out with the M series and finally Affair. The mystery elements were there but the romance was so poorly constructed I honestly thought a male writer was behind it (or worse a Hollywood writer). Baxter should be a compelling hero with mutliple layers to enjoy. Instead he comes off as a nerdy buffoon. The romance is a matter of 'they meet, they don't get along, then they're jumping in the sack together, now where are we on this mystery?' Sorry to say Affair was the last Quick novel I read. The author is competent but needs to either write straight historical mystery or develop her romances better. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
