    Awesome Book!1

Absolutely loved this book!! Amazing plot, keeps you going. I wonder though if there is a sequel about the girl in the epilogue! I would love one! One of the best parts of the book is that epilogue.

    Awesome, heartbreaking love

This book almost made me cry in the end. the relationship between Edward and Sophie is captivating, special, yet heartbreaking. they both misunderstand each other. their love is real and solid and the book makes the reader feel that. the epilogue of the book was what almost made me cry. if you have read this book, i'm sure you'll understand why. too bad i can't say it right here cause i don't want to ruin it for others. but this book i absolutely loved and it's my first from brenda joyce.

    not good...

This book is only great if your into only you know what. This character Edward is a horndog that has been around so so many times with the same type of women and now he's bored of them so he goes for the quiet suppresed type. He used her and then he realized hey ya know what maybe she's not so bad after all. Booo! This says a lot about some guys.

    Awesome

I love reading Historical Romance novels and I received this book as a gift. When I first starting reading it I could not get into it but then a couple chapters later I was so into it I couldn't put it down. I have read many books and I believe this is my favorite of them all. I loved the story line, just basically everything about it.

    It's Worth It...After Innocence

I am an avid romance reader and especially of books by Brenda Joyce. I read all of her earlier works as they were very good. I took off a few years while she worked on her 'Deadly' series. I am not into any books other than historical romances so..... I came back to read again this year and found new books by her (The Prize - excellent) and (The Masquerade - in progress) soon. My favorite book by Brenda Joyce has got to be After Innocence. I re-read that one - at least 1/2 dozen times -since I got it and each time it's like a new story. It's such an emotional read that these characters come alive off the pages. Sophie and Edward will be real to you at the end of the story. I really enjoyed that Sophie was not a classical beauty of her time - instead - her broken ankle/slight limp, light coloring, passionate personality and artistic nature are what brought her to life. It took a handsome lover of women who had been around the world a few times to see in Sophie what was so easy to be over-looked. But...once Edward saw Sophie through the eyes of sexual attraction, frienship and then soul shattering love....it was all over for them. They were bound to find their way back to one another after years of separation, issues with each other and life style chances. The plot lines moves along quickly -America, France, Africa and more. So much to do - it will keep you glued to your seat. Brenda Joyce leaves us hanging in the prologue thinking perhaps we'll have a novel one day about Sophie & Edwards granddaughter (per the epilogue section) but...alas, it will never be. Ms. Joyce says the epilogue is the worse thing she ever did. This series (Secrets & After Innocence) is it. Too bad - I hope to hear about the third brother in this family - James but, it is not to be. Regardless, know that After Innocence is a solid read and one you will want to add to your library. Oh... and beware..... the intimate scences are intense - you'll wish for your own Edward after reading this one! But you can't have him - he is Sophie's man as it should be! Buy it and DO NOT loan it out. This will be one you read over and over again for years. You will love it - guaranteed! Enjoy!

    Fantastic Book!! I loved it!

Gosh, it was great right from the start. The plot was mysterious and I was always wanting to know what was going to happen when Jake and Suzzane got together. Too bad, Jake refused to take her back. Sofie and Edward were really hot together. It was believeable and touching at the same time.

    Awesome

What a beautiful book to read, I fall in love with the story and with Sofie and Edward. This book has everything, I cried, I laughed. This is one of the best books of Brenda Joyce, and I have read all of them. This story should be on tv.
