Best of the series

AFTER THE PARADE was one of the best books I have read in a long time. The time period was so interesting. I liked the three preceeding books set in the Great Depression area, and hated to see the end of the Dolan family saga. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a fast paced, page turning story. I like all Dorothy Garlock books, but this one is tops.

    Hooked to the end!

In true Dorothy Garlock fashion, this is a good read.
You will not want to put this one down til the end

    A great book

I am so sorry that this is the last book about the Henry and Dolan families. I have read all four of them and enjoyed them all.

DIDN'T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN

This book was fantastic from start to finish. I didn't do any housework after I started it this past weekend. The reason I came online was because at the end of the book, Dorothy Garlock states it's the last book about the Dolan and Henry families --- I've read the last, now I want the first and everyone in between. This book brought tears to my eyes making it hard to read at times!

    Entertaining post-WW II romance

World War II ends and the men are finally coming home. The townsfolk in Rawlings, Oklahoma are waiting for Johnny Henry to appear so they can give him a hero¿s welcome. However, Johnny feels far from a hero and his spouse Kathleen fails to attend the celebration. She remembers his parting words to her four years ago that he wanted a divorce. Johnny fears his tainted blood will cause Kathleen to bear more deformed children like their daughter who died.
Though Johnny wants Kathleen to get on with her life without him, he cannot just let her go. She also refuses to quit on the one person she loves deeply. As Johnny and Kathleen struggle to reach some kind of accommodation, a stranger stalks her, waiting for the right moment to abduct her.
No one brings home small town America during the baby boom era in a more picturesque manner than the best selling author Dorothy Garlock. However, though this is a well-written novel, references to previous books in the mini-series leaves new readers adrift and wondering what Ms. Garlock alludes to. Still, hearts will go out to the hero who feels inferior to his beloved due to his family background. The heroine understands what she faces and fights to attain what she desires. AFTER THE PARADE is a fast-paced, poignant work that will please the author¿s fans and send the new reading crowd seeking the previous books in a wonderful series.
Harriet Klausner
