Brookhiser's bio of Alexander Hamilton concisely details the political, professional, and personal life of this truly interesting character. While one of only two non-presidents to be displayed on our currency, Hamilton is often overlooked or misrepresented as a Founding Father. Brookhiser covers it all from Hamilton's roots in St. Croix, his education, his military service under Geo. Washington, his lawyering, his term as Treasury Secretary, and his famous duel with then Vice President Aaron Burr. Brookhiser's understandably fond feelings for Hamilton give the story a conservative slant, but I found it refreshing to not be interrupted by every historian¿s contrarian opinion on each and every issue. Brookhiser's work is an excellent tale about an interesting figure during a truly extraordinary time in our nation's history. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
