    more from this reviewer

In this second book of the Etherlin Series, the story is focused

In this second book of the Etherlin Series, the story is focused on Cerise a muse who has lost her powers and her man and Lysander, a fallen angel.  With very little effort, the author has managed to describe the world and provide background into the characters that allowed me to catch up to the storyline. The writing is clear and smooth, and while there are points in the plot where the pacing lags, the inclusion of background information did keep my interest.

As a love story, this didn’t work so well for me.  Cerise and Lysander felt more like friends who argued over the littlest things, without great communication skills and flare ups of unreasonable jealousy.  There were several bits of background shared from all points of view, and the author clearly defines and describes the failures in past relationships when ego and miscommunication step in. If you are looking to read a book that has some unusual components, a non-stereotypical size 0 beauty for a heroine and a very take-charge and brooding alpha male with single minded focus on redemption – this is the book for you.

I was provided a paperback copy from Booked and Loaded for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

    Okay Read

I really enjoyed Kimberly Frost’s Southern Witch series so looked forward to this new one. Unfortunately it didn’t measure up to her previous work. It is just okay, I don’t regret reading it but it will not become part of my “TBR again” list
