This app is great. Drawing the letters with a finger, just like in rice or salt or shaving cream, is a great way for children to learn without the added pressure of holding a pencil. The only fault I have with this app is that a few lower case letters and the numeral 1 are not the form found in most handwriting in the U.S. Especially lower case "a," which is shown with the curved hook as in many type faces, instead of a circle and line. Others, such as lower case "t" and numeral 1, were easy enough to show my son to just use a straight line. He has really been enjoying this app.

Needs a better practice font

The app has a lot of fun things about it, but it is not the standard letters they are using. It has the "a" like this font showes, not the basic "a" thats drawn with a circle and a line. The number 1 also looks more like a 7. A few other letters and numbers are not drawn the standard way kids are taught in school. It has been a little confusing for my son. The app is fun with great potential, i just wish they had created it using a more basic font type as the model.

    This is not for tracing

This app shows a small example letter at the top of the page, not a large one for tracing. This coupled with the non-standard letter shapes e.g. the printer's 'a' (as reported by other reviewers) make it unusable. Why can't we get decent apps for the Nook???????????????

    Not recommended

Line thickness cannot be permanently reset. Finger cannot be lifted and reset accurately. An adult cannot write neat letters, much less a child. Is it possible to get a refund on a totally unusable app?

    Nice while it lasted

It only worked for a week and continue to get a message that says "Unfortunately, Alphabet has stopped."
