Altered Art Techniques: Where to Begin to Find Your Artistic Voice as a New Designer
If you are looking for a different way on how to make unique and individualized gifts for your family and friends but don't know where to begin, then this book is for you! If you are looking for a form of creating Art with found objects and you are limited with resources, then this style of Art is made for you as well! In this book, the Author discusses the recent History of the early 1900's of Altered Art from the famous Artists such as: Joseph Cornell, Joe Brainard, Donald Evans, and Claudine Hellmuth just to name a few. Also in the book, the Author takes you through the basics
of how to create a variety of specialty back rounds, incorporate found objects within the work, and how to use poetry and text as a creative element within your artwork.
What I love about this book is that it has a chapter on how to find inspiration to make Altered Art pieces. Most of the time, budding Artists and some well refined Artists, find it difficult to know where to begin when they start their designs. The Author discusses how important it is to develop a sketch book of ideas to put the designs into your Art project or keep the ideas in the sketchbook to inspire your creative juices for future projects. In my work I find that sketchbook to be so priceless to know how to stimulate those creative juices inside my soul so that I can formulate a great piece of work for an exhibit or an Art competition. The Author also gives the reader five projects to try out and make their own unique designs. For more experienced Artists these projects could be ideas for a jumping off point to larger or more complex works that you might want to try.
I recommend this book for a variety of types of Artists that are out there because it gives you an opportunity to create artwork that is not conventional in the traditional sense of the word. The Author gives you the freedom to let your imagination run wild with different techniques and tools that you might not have used before. She also at the same time gives you tips and tricks on how to keep your thoughts, viewpoint, and self expressions focused on the goal of making a great piece of art work. The end result will give you a finished piece that any of your family or friends would be happy to have.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
